I'm a member since last night, when I came aboard hoping to catch some of the heavyweight action. I know none of the bouts were particularly big in a mainstream sense, but four heavyweight bouts (two of them title bouts) would surely have sold over in the UK? Unfortunately they didn't get picked up, and I had no way of seeing them.

You know what disappointed me most? (after not seeing the bouts, that is) The animosity displayed here towards new members. Sure, what I was asking is technically illegal (I'd definitely go PPV if I had the option in my country) and it was what prompted me to join in the first place.

I can even understand the need to reward genuine members with the 100 count before they can download the archives. But having such open hostility directed towards casual fans of boxing, even by the moderators, is shocking. "Leeches"? It just makes no logical sense... when the old crowd fall away, how are you going to attract new members when there's a thread at the top of the forum slating those potential new members? Nice welcome, guys!

You sound more like a guy upset over the fact that you joined and can't get to the downloads. Like it clearly states and it seems to only upset you, the "the Downloads section is for members who gain at least 100 posts and not a breeding ground for leeches (guys who sign up in order to run and download ever file we have)". Not sure how you take it as a knock towards new members, but you cant please everyone.

manners? the reason you came here was not to contribute but to download fights. i consider that a leech but i havent seen any intentional abuse of the leeches, they bring it on themselves.

Exactly...no one else has a problem with the policy but you. Its a good system and Rick is trying to keep this site clean and running smoothly. I don't understand the beef.

I think the 100 posts before you can access the downloads is fair. When the section was first opened I only had a couple of posts but am doing my best to get up to the 100 mark with decent posts, not just spam.

Okay, to clarify - to call someone a "leech" is calling them derogatory names, right? For the rest of the "regulars" to join in with that is discouraging. I don't have a problem with the policy, but the uncharitable way it's worded.

I am a regular member of another boxing forum, so while seeing great archive fights may have been one of my interests in being here, it wasn't the only one. However, after seeing hostility I find it offputting.

you have to understand rick pays alot for this site and for people to come along and download without contribution saps valuable bandwidth, bandwidth he pays for, it is like shoplifters taking from stores, they hike up prices and ruin it for eveyone else that is why the 100 post system is in place.
You can see why there is animosity towards people like that.
It is a cool site when you get past that, the internet is full of malicious people and i have seen it on this site a couple times so you gotta understand the mistrust, if you just be nice and enjoy the site you will be ok.:D

It isn't fair. It is ****ing unfair for you to have to have 100 posts to download. You should be able to sign up and download all you want. I'm upset for you leeches...I too use to be a leech...now I'm a beeach..

You know, I don't even know why I started this now, I feel quite guilty. I guess it was about three in the morning (UK), I was tired, it seemed rude.

But I definitely do not dispute the ruling, it's a good ruling. But to be labelled as potentially someone there to suck the blood out of people? Hmmmmm...

Wow, here's one from the past... my very first thread. I still stand by it as well - while someone joining just to wipe fights annoys me as much as the next guy, the ill-mannered way it's worded leaves a lot to be desired.

Since this post I've tried to regularly upload fights, especially now I have broadband.

Speaking of which... you can now see Tyson vs. Holyfield II in the downloads section.



The Anorak - definitely not a leech, but resents the fact that such could be implied when he was new.

Just curious about the video quality in the Member's area. Does the quality differ from fight to fight, or are they all the same?
I have most modern fights, but unfortuanately some are terrible quality.
