View Full Version : Fighting at school
nance 05-11-2004, 06:56 PM Once again my son found himself in a position of conflict at school.
To his credit, the other boy hit him twice and my son only raised his fist, but did not strike. I know most of you would have said for him to strike back, but if he gets into a fight right now, he's screwed three ways from Sunday. He held his temper in long enough to hit a door instead of this kid's face. The other kid is gone and my son is still there. This mom and his dad are proud that he held his cool.
You have too many family problems. Write your son off.
mmafanman 05-11-2004, 07:58 PM Ouch.

When he's 18 and out of school, I might consider that. But not yet. I still have 4 years left to help him and being mom, I'm not going to quit just yet.
**** that momma. Just think the opposite, 4 years of not paying for a child, you can go to italy for months just with those savings.
Stain 05-11-2004, 10:39 PM That's good that he didn't hit back. Its too bad he already has a few strikes against him or he could have opened up a can of whoopass
Squezze 05-11-2004, 11:48 PM I always loved watching fights at school. It was cool being involved in a few of them as well.
handjobs4dollars 05-11-2004, 11:55 PM Yeah I wish I was back in high school so I could **** some of those people I hated up. None of them ever wanted to fight me. If somebody started **** I wanted to fgiht but none was willing. And if I fought them now they would be really ****ed with my small man jiu-jitsu.

I can go on a vacation anytime after my kids are grown and gone. I'm still fairly young. :-)
Besides, he's my son. He IS worth it in the long run.

He is in with a group of kids who are all up for expulsion. Himself included. Most of the kids are bullies and huge behavioral problems and my son just made a really stupid colossal mistake. This place is like a "purgatory" for kids who are awaiting their fate in the school district. He's not a fighter in the sense of getting into fights, but he also won't back down when he knows he's right. That's my boy! I was the same way. I don't back down to bullies, never have, never will. But in this case, if he watches himself and doesn't misbehave, the principal can recommend that he not be expelled, just the time served. That's what we're hoping for because the outcome can have a huge affect on the possible criminal charges that MAY come later.
seldomTap 05-12-2004, 01:41 AM FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

Agreed, try to help him at least when you can do it...
I remember the worst fight (of two) I had at school: It was with one of my best friends, pathetic...but at the end (and after see the principal) we go out smiling and speaking normally...

Thank you for your support. And Stain, you too!
I was in a fight once. Because I lived in a small town in Utah, I was the one being suspended but not the other girl and she was the one who started it. She "came from a good Morman family" and I didn't. Those were the exact words from the principal (the ones in quotes, the rest were implied to my single father).
Funny thing is, a few weeks later, I found out she had her father's belt buckle imprinted on her backside, permanently.
Like my son, I ignored the first two hits....she tried for a third time. That did it. I tore her waist length hair out.

Here's one for you to consider. I'm sure you've already thought of it though... if the worst comes to the worst and he gets kicked out... it don't matter in the fullness of time, some of the coolest, best-adjusted people out there had trouble at school.
Worrying is in your job description, but don't let it kill you.
Purity 05-12-2004, 10:31 AM take me for example :)
