I'm a huge DMX fan no point in hiding it so i'm a -bit- biased writing this thread.. I hear many say X's first two albums were classic and then he fell off.. I totally disagree with that.. To me X didn't fell off he evolved. Also my favourite album is ''And then there was X'' so there again I might disagree with a lot of people.

My question is this.. Have X made a CLASSIC album..? Have he made more than one? and why do you consider it a classic..

In my mind X first three album was a classic, I can put it on and I never have to worry about skipping a track because it's all good.

But what's your take on it?

Poll is also on its way. :boxing:

I think hes had more than one classic. But Its Dark and Hell is hot is unquestionable.

No Classics

It's Dark and Hell Is Hot is decent, the next two were alright too, but no start-to-finish must listens in his discography...

He had above average talent, too... if he could have handled his legal and mental problems, he could have put one out

Its Dark And Hell Is Hot is his only classic album. That album is just hard. Blood Of My Blood was very good. And Then There Was X had some great to good tracks but not as good as the first two. The Great Depression again had some good tracks. Grand Champ turned out to be a pretty good album in my opinion. Much better than Great Depression but still short of great or classic. After that I haven't paid attention because I know X was just trying to make money more than music.

Why is it that people generally won't accept anything but an artist first or second album as a classic..? Many artist.. And i'm not only talking DMX.. have made some nice albums that have reached high on the charts with hot tracks yet people won't recognize it a classic..

people are overly critical, thats part of the reason atleast.

That's too bad.. Many artist have made great music years after having their debut.. Take T.I. as an example.. Personly I think King and Paper trail is way better than his debut album.. Even better than Trap music.. But is it EVER gonna get that status? Not likely.. Because it came later in his carreer and then it pr definition gotta be garbage..

His debut is an undisputed classic and a top 20 debut album of all-time at the least, his sophmore album is questionable for a classic, but, it is what made me a Swizz Beatz fan (he fell the **** off) and I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.
