Why did new Zealand get given the hosting rights?
Have you SEEN thier infastructure and stadiums?
All they are doing is upgrading ONE STAND at eden park, thats the extent of thier development for the tournament!
I think New Zealand is going to get brutally exposed at these games, they will be an international laughing stock.

They would have enough Union grounds to cover most games surely? Really you only need one or two stadiums that hold big crowds. For instance Tonga V Ireland probably isn't going to draw a bumper crowd in NZ.
Besides perhaps no one else bid for it?

Once everyone goes on the Lord of the Rings tour they will forget about it.

They could have a couple of games at the Dunedin University Oval if they get desperate. LOL

I think thier biggest ground is like 40,000. that is tiny for even minnow games.

That's the main reason NZ shouldn't have been given the hosting rights. It's a conspiracy.
Japan should be hosting the 2011 World cup. But because of politics and NZ basically paying off the European countries they're now hosted. The even will be a massive failure, and a joke. And then because of NZ's epic failure, those in charge will insist England get the next World Cup to make up for the financial loss NZ is going to have.
It's politics and the old boys of the game passing the ball back and forth to each other, again. When nations like Japan are crying out to host the game, are more than ****ing capable, and love rugby. Not to mention the implications when you factor in popularity that will follow from the rest of Asia.
University rugby games in japan draw like 70,000 people in finals. And they want to give it to NZ, who can't even draw 7,000 people in their professional Super 14 competition?
What a ****ing joke.

I hope NZ choke again, aswell. That's the only positive that could come from giving it to NZ. The All Blacks choking in their back yard.

Originally NZ were due to co-host the 03 cup with Australia. That fell apart due to an argument over signage rights between NZRU and the RWC. Giving NZ the next available tournament was an easy choice then I guess.
I think a World Cup in Japan would be a great thing. They have excellent infrastructure, and it's located in a geographically central location for rugby playing nations. Not to mention of course the positive interest it would develop in Asia. I think Japan is favorite to host 2015 world cup.
On a side note, I take it there are a few rugby fans here. Anybody follow the Waratahs?
