Stanley Ketchell, Sam Langford, George Foreman, Harry Greb, Henry Armstrong all had something that made you think is this guy really human, weather it was a cast iron chin, stamina or a knockout punch.

He could've probably fought for a hundred rounds against Ali the first time and may have beaten anybody under those rules. res 04-10-2009, 06:26 PM Joe Frazier (He just keeps coming at you, even in the Foreman fight) and Ali in the first Liston fight. PLATE 04-10-2009, 08:13 PM At the risk of sounding like a broken record.. Rocky Marciano, for the punishment he could endure, the stamina he displayed, and the unbelievable KO % he attained. bridger1 04-10-2009, 08:24 PM At the risk of sounding like a broken record.. Rocky Marciano, for the punishment he could endure, the stamina he displayed, and the unbelievable KO % he attained. totally agree, good example was the jersey joe walcott fight took a beating for 13 rounds then one punch walcott was pretty much dead MarkScott 04-11-2009, 11:13 AM Battling Nelson. He actually used to brag, "I ain't human." http://www.amazon.com/Joe-Gans-Biography-American-Champion/dp/0786439947/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239462188&sr=1-1 Hawkins 04-11-2009, 12:04 PM jake lamotta & marvin hagler Lord Cornholio 04-12-2009, 01:59 AM Tex Cobb: I know for a fact the dude was an alien from Ceti V and his ugliness proves it. Shiranui 04-12-2009, 02:43 AM Monzon first and foremost. He also had the doctors word for it. I read an account from a doctor who stated that Bat didn't feel pain the way 'normal' people do. He suggested that the nerves didn't send painmessages to the brain. He was also impressed by Bat's low heartrate. BTW Mark I'd love to read your book some time. I'd love to learn more about the great Joe Gans. j 04-12-2009, 03:59 PM stanly k? really??? j johnson beat his ass like nobody's business. i could name a few guys who seem unhuman as they are so advanced compared to everyone else, but i doubt the names would be recognized. oooh, i see hagler mentioned. he was awesome. used to watch kung fu flivks before fights to get in good mindset. very interesting fighter. and a damned good one at that. digital02 04-12-2009, 04:51 PM Sam Langford Pound for pound the Geatest fighter of all time! henry amstrong and Manny pacman are reading the book he wrote about beating bigger fighters. The_Bringer 04-12-2009, 07:15 PM Joe Frazier - Not much to be said here. He kept coming at you regardless of how badly he was getting beaten. You could hit him with one of the corner posts and he's probably still keep coming. Carlos Monzon - Beast. That about sums it up. Marvin Hagler - As someone said, a very interesting character. His training camps were absolutely brutal and his war-like mentality, and attitude in the ring was basically kill or be killed. Diego Corrales - Heart like a son of a *****. Everytime he got dropped he always got up. And even when he was in over his head, like he was against Mayweather, he was absolutely pissed when they stopped the fight. Same goes with Casamayor and the insane cut he had in his mouth. He still wanted to keep going and was once again, visibly pissed off when they stopped the fight. Aztec Wanker 04-12-2009, 11:33 PM Tex Cobb: I know for a fact the dude was an alien from Ceti V and his ugliness proves it. ^This guy. Shavers hit him with just about everything , Cobb took it and smirked at his ass. Not to mention the beating he took at the hands of Larry Holmes... talip bin osman 04-12-2009, 11:52 PM hopkins... for all that he has accomplished in his 40s... he is still a mainstay of any P4P list even @ this point in his career... remarkable... Greatwhitehope 04-13-2009, 01:27 AM I'd go with Hopkins he seems more like a bottle of wine than a human being. mickyward5656 04-13-2009, 08:22 AM ^This guy. Shavers hit him with just about everything , Cobb took it and smirked at his ass. Not to mention the beating he took at the hands of Larry Holmes... yea tex cobb had a crazy chin. Leakbeak 05-24-2009, 05:01 AM From our generation it was Roy Jones Jr for his speed, power and tremendous reflexes. The only thing that stopped people from feinting and prevented him from becoming an even huger star mainstream star was his reluctance to kill. I honestly beleive he could have done to Griffin what he did the second time round in most of his fights if he wanted to. Complex character with superb natural gifts. I personally would have knocked everyone the **** out! gingeralbino 05-24-2009, 05:34 AM i normally just read in this forum as i dont know **** about boxing history, but I have to mention wayne mccullough's chin. that part of him was a lot more machine than human. the man went 36 brutal round with Barrera, Morales and Harrison, got hit with huge bombs and could still come forward and throw 100+ punches a round. He went in v Naz too, but didn't get no bombs as Naz decided to just box him instead. Would have been good to see if he was able to last in an exchange V Naz but he wasn't good enough to get on the inside. He is still fighting even though he works for the UFC as a Pr associate gingeralbino 05-24-2009, 06:47 AM He went in v Naz too, but didn't get no bombs as Naz decided to just box him instead. He is still fighting even though he works for the UFC as a Pr associate he took a few bombs of naz. stood up to him. naz realised there was no poinnt in trying to take him out. Morales and Harison didnt stop trying. How he didnt go down ill never know. glidesmack 05-24-2009, 07:41 AM I'm not sure anyone can compete in this category with peak tyson. The effect some of his punches had on 250 pound men just weren't the same as anything I've seen before. People say Shavers and Foreman hit harder, and maybe they did. But Tyson's punches sent these guys FLYING. |
