Looks good, am not that fast yet...just got back to boxing..Anywayz you look in good shape but just curious what kind of gym is that? looks more like a typical workout gym rather than a straight boxing one...
boxingsmash69 04-07-2009, 04:22 AM looks good. i thought that was Alfonso Gomez at first.
Mr.Noodle 04-07-2009, 04:24 AM How long it take you to get to that point? I don't even come close to that when it comes to skipping. Real good video though.
DeLaHatManMos 04-07-2009, 09:18 AM thanx guys.
ya its just the regular gym i work at as a personal trainer. not my boxing gym.
the first time i picked up a jump rope was just a little over a year ago so not too long...but i practiced a lot. thats all it really takes.
and Fonso is the man! haha
Squabbles94806 04-07-2009, 09:57 AM Were you using the light jump rope? I bet it feels like there's nothin there.
You look quick on your feet for a big guy. No double jumps? LOL. Mayweather's jump rope routine is the best i've seen so far.
DeLaHatManMos 04-07-2009, 10:03 AM i threw in at least 30 doubles i think? just not too many in a row. i said this wasnt one with tricks really. the most double unders ive done str8 was 133 so i mean i can do em...maybe ill do a more difficult an faster routine later.
like i said this was just endurance an conditioning basics.
but thanx tho.
i look thick but ive been leaning out and am still goin down. im usually about 160, in that vid im about 155 but i fight at 145-47

You're one of those big 155 pounders, i'm a lean, trim 150 pounder. I fight @ 152, but i like to weigh in around 148-149. The lowest i've ever gotten was 145 and that was on a diet of water and air. LoL.
Do you just box or are you into the MMA trend as well?
I hate double jumps. i didn't watch the whole 6 minutes of your video though. I use the traditional everlast jump-rope, you know which one i'm talkin about? Hella good for the arms though.
CMaines 04-07-2009, 10:43 AM Jumpping rope is a great workout and can be kind of fun. I'm just now learning some of the tricks, now where near as good as your video, but I'll get there! nice, work.

what are the steps to learning all those different things for a beginner?
I3C727 04-07-2009, 06:27 PM you use the aero speed buddy lee rope? How is it, do the connections (little rings) seem flimsy? If you mess up and land on it do you think it will snap?
i want to get one but im not as good as you, i dont want to break it the first day trying to learn.
Landon S 04-07-2009, 07:21 PM That was pretty good, when I jump rope I dont do nearly as many of those umm....cant remember the name...where you swing the rope on one side of your body (without jumping over it) and switch sides and then continue jumping rope, looks pretty cool but I think you get a better workout actually jumping over the rope. I've been using pretty heavy thick rope for the last year and half (started jumping rope when I started boxing) and it just broke about a month ago, I havent really been boxing much lately but when I use the light ropes they have at the gym they just spin so easy. Funny thing is is that whenever I use a light rope tend to jump really low to the ground like you are, but with the heavier ones Ill jump higher.
Just an observation from what I watched (a few seconds here a few seconds there...) is that you dont move to the sides much, it may help your footwork a bit if you did.
How tall are you?
DeLaHatManMos 04-07-2009, 11:24 PM im 5'8" about. ya like i said i wasn't doing much variation cuz i wasn't trying to showcase everything, but maybe i'll make a planned video next time. and ya jumping over it definitely is better work, but its more so the total volume/accumulation of work you do. if you do 5 min straight of regular jumping, or 10 minutes, 5 of regular jumps mixed in with some side crosses or w/e, the volume of that 10 min is still greater in terms of caloric expendature.
and for C727...the buddy lee aero speed rope is awesome. its not flimsy at all. just dont jump on rough surfaces that will wear the rope thin.
