even though ive never used them i know they fit a whole lot better then the velcro ones but i have a question. how do you lace up your own gloves if there is no one around to lace them for you. i mean i can figure that i can lace up one side and then the other would be a little wierd, possible, but wierd and not as good. anyone enlighten me on this?

damn seriously.......... tie them loosely and then wrestle with them to get them on, that is the only way to do it really.

why even buy the lace ups if you don't have someone to tie them for you? keeping them laced loosely and sliding them on totally defeats the benefits that lace up gloves give you.

I don't like using lace ups because you always have to get ppl to tie them for you.

mmm ive laced mine up myself and used them, they were fine offered about as much support as ****ty hook and loop closures. you tie them semi tight, im not talking about a very loose tie, then you have to wrestle to get the second one on. Ive done it, it works you just have to use your imagination.

Oh it can be done, but that defeates the purpose of lace up gloves. You get lace up ones so they can be tied tight to provide a lot of support. If you're just doing them lose and say 'offered about as much support as ****ty hook and loop closures' you might as well just get a ****ty pair of hook and loop gloves and save yourself the trouble. ;-)

I've only used gloves with laces once and I loved them. I still use velcro ones. I only train at a gym and not alone at home, so there would always be someone to tie them, I just don't like all the hassle.

I used to use lace-up gloves when sparring. One guy laces up the other guy. Then lace up the other pair while their off, leaving the right glove kind of loose. Put the left on first. Then put the right on using your teeth to pull it down. Low tech I know, but I did it that way for years.

As said before, lace ups are better because of the tight fit, only way to get around it is to wrestle to put them on. Having them that loose negates the point of having them. A few people at my gym have them, you can deff' see the tighter and more comfortable fit on them, they just look more professional when on. However, like said, unless you have someone to tie them for you, or even if you do, can be assed to get someone to constantly tie them for you, don't bother. It's a general rule of thumb that it's usually pretty stupid to get lace ups for training, too much hassle. I go to 3 gyms over the course of a year, all 3 require taking off and putting on of gloves at least twice.

Having someone lace them up for you is always the best approach and benefit of lace up gloves. If your coach doesn't do it for your find someone else that is available.

We offer a lace up glove convertor that'll swtich them to a hook & loop closure. These are great to use when training by yourself and can be removed later so the gloves can be used as a full lace up glove too.
