Why do people give credit to the person who puts more heart in what they do than the person who is more talented at what they do?

My post is in reference to Joe Louis and Ali. It also goes on other topics as well, but we'll just stick to boxing. I never seen Joe Louis fight, but alot of people tell me he was better than Ali, but people still consider Ali the greatest.

Ali accomplished more and is considered greater. But Louis,is the better fighter. Just like how Lamotta is greater than RJJ but i would still consider rjj to be the better fighter.

You guys can't have this thread without mentioning SR Robinson, that's pretty much who you're describing with these attributes.
