My daughter was in a car accident yesterday. Her first. Not her fault. Cops refused to come out, saying they weren't needed if there were no serious injuries and the cars were drivable. Well, seeing as my daughter drove defensively and tried to avoid the accident and the other vehicle was a BIG tow truck, it wasn't too bad in damages, but I did take her to the ER since she was hurting in her shoulder. The belt was across the already torn shoulder.......just further damaged they think. We'll know more on that next week.
We went into the police station to file a report of and injury accident like we were told to do over the phone. When we got there the woman behind the counter spoke to us as if we were stupid and then we heard them say that they didn't have to take the report. I said I was told otherwise and they said that they would. Then the officer proceeded to "drill" my daughter and was acting as if it was all her fault. This upset her and she was in tears and he then said he didn't have to take the report. I asked for a statement saying that they wouldn't take it and then I asked for a supervisor. The officer was THEN CORRECTED AND HAD TO TAKE THE REPORT. At the end he then gave my daughter a lecture saying how it's never one person's fault 100% in any accident. I SAY BULL****! This other driver pulled out unsafely and speeding and swung into BOTH lanes after flipping a uturn on a side street and hit my daughter's van from the passenger side and knocked her sideways into the median curb scaring the landscapers planting there. She saw it coming and had started to slow down and then slammed on the brakes, just not enough time to react.
She did good. I'm proud of her. She's sore and has whiplash, but other than that she's fine.
