Well my venture into the Golden GLoves this year came to an end today....my first prelim fight I scored a stoppage in the first round. Second prelim fight I won a decision... and then today in the quarter-finals I got robbed fighting a bum...i almost stopped him in the first round but i couldnt finish it. I tried to do just enough for the victory because i was hurt from the day before...and I guess it wasnt enough. Ole well there is always next year

how old are you, and what weight class?

sounds like you did pretty good. but it also sounds like you could have avoided a premature loss. every time you go in the ring you should give it your all, especially in a tournament!
good job, and keep improving so next year you arent talking about a loss

Sucks I got knocked out in my 2nd fight tonight too. It was a BS stopage. I lit the kid up in the 1st. He lands 2 big right and the ref stopped it. Bull!! Time to get ready for next year.

Where do you guys train? I was in Chicago visiting my girl right before the golden gloves and went and work out at the Hamlin Park gym. Seemed like a real serious gym and the trainer was real nice, let me come in and hit the bags for the afternoon.

That's what i hate about the amateurs too many premature stoppages, you could get hit with a couple of good hits and be fine yet they will call the fight.

I got 2 8 counts in my fight. 1st one was from a week as hell right hand. The other from a 1-2 that on the top of my head then on my shoulder. Ref asked me if I was good. I said hell yeah. He told me no I don't think you are, and stopped it. I beat the kid down in the 1st too. Sucks!!! There have been a lot of stoppages in the Chicago glove this year.

Yea i dont understand that...when they need to stop a fight they dont. I was wailing on dude for like 20 seconds and the ref broke it up...his nose was dripping i cant get the blood out of my trunks. Crazy

Nice, but hey at least you've made it into the gloves a lot of us are trying to get there. I personally was supposed to fight in the new york gloves at 140 and couldn't pay my monthly dues so I could help my mom out and had to stop training. At least you got the chance, that gives us (definitely me) hope to keep going. Point of the story is, congrats on even getting to fight and getting to the quarter finals. There's always next year. Stay up!
