3. Yoshiki Takahashi vs. Heath Herring
4. Emelianenko Fedor vs. Mark Coleman
5. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Hiro Yokoi
6. Mirko "CroCop" Filipovic vs. Kevin Randleman
7. Naoya Ogawa vs. Stefan Leko
Ron Waterman and Gan McGee have been listed as the alternates
Curly Howard 04-14-2004, 10:51 AM Did they scrap the 8th fight or are they calling Waterman and McGee the 15th and 16th man?
lightweight 04-14-2004, 10:55 AM Looks like some solid matches.
Tanner Rhoden 04-14-2004, 10:56 AM Damn, didn't notice that......wish I could read that crazy Japanese talk.....I'll go ask someone who can.
Curly Howard 04-14-2004, 10:58 AM I wouldn't want to face Sergei Kharitonov. He could be a spoiler in this. I only saw him fight ***** tits but I read in a few places that he's the real deal.
Tanner Rhoden 04-14-2004, 11:00 AM Yeah, he and Ninja = fireworks!!
Best overal match up in the opening round, IMO.
I have a weird feeling that Coleman v.s. Fedor is going to decide who wins this tournament though. If Fedor wins....I pick him to win the whole thing......if Coleman wins....I pick Nog to win the whole thing.
Curly Howard 04-14-2004, 11:20 AM I just translated 9834934843 Japanese web sites and they all say the same card. With Pride you can't be 100% sure until Bas Rutten comes on TV and tells us for sure.
The Ensanity 04-14-2004, 12:59 PM Im HIGHLY dissappointed n the Miller/Silva match. I thought they were going to be feeder fish...oh well, the rest of the card looks great
Bluecifer 04-14-2004, 02:24 PM I was kinda looking forward to Herring vs. Waterman, I think that would've been an interesting match up. I bet Ninja vs. Sergei will kick ass though.

Squezze 04-14-2004, 02:47 PM There's gotta be a fight missing in there. Who is missing?

I agree with you the best match up is the one with Ninja, but it wouldn't be surprising if Coleman makes it again.
Mr. Beelzebub 04-15-2004, 12:19 AM Kharitonov is pretty good...I think Ninja is not gonna make it to round 2.

GeNeRaL 04-15-2004, 01:30 PM not sure where you see 2 vacancies open if this is true as stated above...

That looks to me like 7 matches and ron waterman. you'd have to throw one more person in the mix for an even 8 matches and 16 competitors. they cant possibly have an odd number of competitors.
Leather 04-15-2004, 04:09 PM Honestly, I don't see a clear winner in Fedor's fight and Randleman vs Mirko can be one of the most brutal fights of this years, the same thing I think of Rua vs Kharitonov....
WTF happens with Heath and Leko??? It looks like they (Pride) want them to pass the first combats. I wouldn't like to see them fighting against other fighters....
waterbottle213 04-15-2004, 10:15 PM yea, same here. its either gonna be coleman by ground and pound or fedor by ground and pound. i think cro cop is gonna KO randleman just like liddell did.

Ron Waterman and Gan McGee (even though he hasn't been "offically" announced) are alternate fighters. Meaning they're not in the main draw. Hence, two openings.
GeNeRaL 04-16-2004, 11:49 AM ahh.. i guess all the facts weren't in this thread. my bad. i was going off this threads speculation that they were alternates, and tanners official post with pride saying that ron waterman is on the card.
