View Full Version : does anyone else find themselves tired with street rap?
Truth 03-24-2009, 10:40 PM I don't know, sometimes i get tired of the same crap about murder, drugs, sex....blah blah....
sometimes i love it, most of the times i do, but i go through stages as i'm getting older where i get tired of it....
Truth 03-24-2009, 10:41 PM sometimes i want a positive message, because i'm a positive person......other times i don't care...
Kobe Bryant 03-25-2009, 01:01 AM Not reallly. Because lately nothing has been out to listen to. It can get redundant. So you have to balance it out a little.
But I don't listen to rap as much as I used to. And I don't check for new music too much or visit hip hop sites as often.
MegStarr* 03-25-2009, 01:43 AM well i wouldn't say that i get tired of it in GENERAL but i need my conscious fix after a lengthy duration of Street rap so it goes both ways. gotta keep it balanced. if i am listening to only what would be considered "conscious hip hop" then i crave the feeling of a good old screwface.
MegStarr* 03-25-2009, 01:57 AM I ain't as deep into music as I used to be, so it don't bother me. Rap is still the only **** i listen to, but I mostly play my old school ****. I like the **** from my younger days more than what's out now.
who doesnt?
th4l3pr3ch4un 03-25-2009, 12:18 PM Street rap from the south... makes me want to bang my head against the wall.
Tuggers1986 03-25-2009, 01:55 PM Ive been bored of all that street and bragging bull**** for a while. It probably explains why the two guys I listen to most are Lupe and Common.
Floyd Sinclair 03-25-2009, 02:24 PM as soon as i play out a particular style of rap, i listen to another style..sometimes im all over the place, i can be listening to common and then put on mobb deep.
neils7147933 03-25-2009, 04:15 PM It's a stale gimmick
The only way I want to listen to it now is if the rapper has legit talent, and has something else to say as well...
...I can't think of a single new rapper (last five years or so) that falls into that category either...
TomasPerez2 08-07-2009, 12:41 PM I only listen to Lupe Fiasco, Eminem , and Joe Budden.
Those are the only rappers I can think of that aren't commercials and gimmicks
the only sounds i like in hip hop
Ravishing 08-07-2009, 02:44 PM I think you should listen to what you like to listen to.
I have a broad range of variety in my musical taste. I can listen to a Mos Def or Common record and then turn around and listen to Jeezy or TI. People will always have something to say about a certain branch of music and everyone's entitled to their own opinion...but I myself like some ignorant **** from time to time.
What's different between what Mobb Deep talked about on the Infamous Album from what say Jeezy or anyone else spits when dealing with negativity? I think most people just disguise the "Street Rap" brand with them actually not liking a particular style of Hip Hop more than trying to be "Conscious".
As Conscious as Common is, he still likes *****es too.

very well put.
Grand Champ 08-09-2009, 09:45 AM Absolutely. I only bump some of that angry streetrap when I'm at the gym. Otherwise I listen to some of the deep/chilled rap or R&B. too much garbage comes out these days it's hard to keep up.
Frank Martin 08-09-2009, 10:46 AM Most of music today sucks, not just rap but the whole music industry.
joe strong 08-09-2009, 10:50 AM rock & roll, blues, grassroots & metal never die! Hiphop is like rave only people who listen to it are just trying to fit in & be a part of the flavors of the month.hiphops like disco! It's gangster/criminal music that sends the wrong message to kids.I remember reading a story about ozzy giving a free concert & parents from the ghetto & in the community were complaining it would cause a riot! LOL! The promoters laughed it off & so did the particular city council stating"the long hairs with give the devil horns fingers & bang their heads & then they all go home to their normal lives but you have a free 50cent concert & you will have a full scale riot of coked out thugs & criminals looking to start a fight & someone will get killed!"hiphop is a fad & will be gone just like disco...it will always have fans but it will fade away!

hip hop has proven itself to be far from a fad.
