After his victory in Osaka on February 1st, Heath Herring said he couldn’t wait for the Total Elimination 2004 (a.k.a Grand Prix 1st Round). He’s hot to get revenge on Fedor, Nogueira and Mirko.

Pride Fighting Championships: How do you feel now that you’ve been chosen to fight in the Grand Prix?

Heath Herring: Really happy and I’m ready to fight.

Pride: What are you concentrating on in your training to prepare for the tournament?

Herring: I still don't know who I will be fighting yet so I haven't started practicing with a deep strategy yet. I just started my training again 1 week ago and I'm in Japan now for this press conference. I want to get back to Holland as soon as possible and train.

Pride: Stefan Leko, from your team, will also be in the Grand Prix.

Herring: He's definitely a great K-1 fighter and I've seen how strong he is because we've been training together recently. This will be his beginning in MMA but I think making his debut at such a big event will be really good for him.

Pride: What will you do if you have to fight him?

Herring: I don't think he will be in the same block because we are teammates. I doubt we will face each other I guess it would be okay if we faced each other in the final match. If that happened, I'd take him down and finish quickly with a submission. I want to finish it gently, so he doesn't get hurt (laughing).

Pride: Who do you think will be your strongest opponent in the GP?

Herring: I don't think about who I want to fight out of all the fighters. If there's a chance I'll lose, it'll probably be to one of the new fighters. There's no data on how they will fight so that kind of fighters is difficult.

Pride: So you think the 3 guys you faced before (Mirko, Nogueira, Fedor) will be easier to fight than the new guys?

Herring: I want to fight those guys.

Pride: Have you found their weak points already?

Herring: Rather than worrying about their weak points, I've got new skills that I can use in a rematch.

Pride: Who of the 3 do you think is the strongest?

Herring: That's difficult to answer. All 3 of them are strong and they each have strengths different from the others. I can't choose who's the most dangerous.

Pride: Are you confident that you will win?

Herring: Of course. That's why I'm fighting in the Grand Prix!
