I was just wondering if they changed the ameture boxing rules from 2 minute rounds to 3 minute rounds?

Yes for elite AM's it is now 3 X 3min rounds.
It's a great idea, gives people time to settle in and sorts the men from the boys.

I'm not sure what the changes are for all the age/genders/weight classes, but at the beginning of the year the "Senior" age class became "Elite" and the open division went from 4x2 minute rounds to 3x3. Novice is still 3x2min and Women's Elite Open is 4x2min.

After a couple more fights (I have 8 right now) I'll be open class and have to do 3 minute rounds . We do it all the time in sparring and it's no problem, but so much of what makes you tired in fights is stress/being tense. Just need to become more relaxed and it should be ok I guess. We're prepared for this and are just starting to add alot more sprints to our workouts now that the weather is warmer.

I can spar 8+ 3 minute rounds in the gym and not gear nearly as tired as I do in a 3 round real fight.

They do both of these actually. In the Lowel Golden Gloves recently, the semi-finals were 3x3 minute rounds, and the finals were 4x2 minute rounds.
