the language is a combination of spanish and malay language. kinda hard if you're used on speaking english because pronounciation are different from what you normally speak.

I am a filipino. here's the thing, if you know how to speak english then filipino is not that hard to learn. the construction of a filipino sentence is similar to the construction of an english sentence. another thing why im saying it will be easy for you to learn is the grammar is almost similar as well. i.e. the kid is crying, if you translate that in filipino, ang bata ay umiiyak. (the = ang, bata = kid, is = ay, crying = umiiyak)

@ Samurai, you can learn a few Filipino words just drop by here at the Pinoy Lounge whenever there are words you want translated. Again, as mentioned above its not really hard to learn since some Filipino words are derived from the Spanish / English language. It would be a big help though if you have a regular conversation with a Filipino for you to easily be familiar with the words.

as a fil-am, i noticed that the longer i go between trips to philippines, the rustier my tagalog gets....the moment i go home, i give it maybe a day...tops...and my lingo is in full gear :D
