View Full Version : Don't get me wrong, I like Chuck Liddell
Curly Howard 04-01-2004, 09:59 AM and would love to see him beat Tito but I gotta pick Ortiz in this fight. I just think he's got more tools and that if he can get passed the first 3 minutes of the first round that his mad cardio will take over.
Thoughts?
GeNeRaL 04-01-2004, 10:16 AM my thoughts are that i'm in total agreement. When i got really into MMA about a year ago, i saw chuck lose to randy. Everyone said something was wrong with him in that fight, like he wan't himself. Well, in the 2 fights since then, vs alistair and vs rampage, I really wasn't impressed either.
Granted i missed his prime time when he was kickin ass, but I just haven't been very impressed with his 1 win and 2 losses since i been into MMA more. He's a great fighter but i just don't see him getting passed Tito.
I want Chuck to win cause hes a more likeable guy and Tito in the interviews i've seen on tv is unlikeably arrogant and annoying, but i'm picking Tito for this one. I hope Chuck proves this post wrong.
wondermut 04-01-2004, 12:07 PM Agreed with both of you. I do not like Tito but I think he will win. I really hope Chuck catched him with one of those looping shots.
handjobs4dollars 04-01-2004, 12:13 PM The only way tito is going to win is be sub. I got a feeling that tito won't be able to take chuck down to work his ground and pound game.
Prince 04-01-2004, 12:26 PM tito will dominate every aspect of this fight. if chuck lands his looping right it will be a disgrace to MMA. if he does, i hope he atleast has his eyes open and is facing the general direction of his opponent.
Bluecifer 04-01-2004, 02:05 PM I hope Chuck wins too. I can't stand Tito! However, I'm worried that Chuck isn't the fighter he was 2 years ago. If Tito wasn't running from him like a scared little girl and had fought him when he was supposed too, I feel confident that Chuck would have KhimTFO, and easily.
The Ensanity 04-01-2004, 04:16 PM Tito will have to PRESS THE ACTION STRIKING
The problem there is, Tito isnt a natural striker. If he trys to press the action too much standing and punish Liddel, it will open up mistakes and enter a chance to for bombs to land.
Liddel wont tire too much in this match. UFC rounds are good for Liddel, and I gurantee most of this fight will be in the clinch and less energy is used in the clinch.
Unless Tito can punish Liddel standing, this is going to be a victory for Liddel.

This is where Tito will have the advantage IMO. He's in the clinch and can do dammage because Chuck will be trying to avoid the take down. Tito's muay thai is good. I see him landing knees and elbows. Tito's ****y but not stupid. If he starts getting tagged this fight will hit the ground. Remeber Randy's not a natural striker either and he stood with Chuck.
Bluecifer 04-01-2004, 04:24 PM Randy is alot better of a striker than Tito though. Don't forget what he did to Belfort the first time they fought. Randy controlled the fight standing and that's where he hurt Belfort. The only time Tito has looked good on his feet was against an old, washed up and torn miniscused Ken Shamrock.

Ill give you that...Tito does have a HEAVILY underrated clich game when it comes to striking....
as for the Randy thing...Randy isnt a natural strike but is HELLA smart. He keeps his HANDS UP HIIIIGH and STAY in your face. We havent seen Tito even TRY to do this. Even when Tito trys to strike its always at a long distance and he comes in firing to get the clinch takedown
kcfman 04-02-2004, 01:14 AM I have to go with Tito. Nothing wrong with Chuck.
Curly Howard 04-02-2004, 10:00 AM It's just that Couture and Jackson wrote a book on how to beat Liddell. Keep your right hand against your head with the wing block and counter his left.
Whoremaster B 04-02-2004, 12:55 PM Tito has to drop his hands a little to go for the clinch. Chuck is known for squeezing them punches in (ie Kevin Randleman)
But I wont take Titos' clinch game from him. He does that **** well.
