I'm not a boxeur, but I practice muay thai. I want to build a small gym in my garage... What should I include? which are the best tools? I thought about:

a) A long, heavy bag

b) some mirrors

c) something soft on the floor

d) an abs bench

e) a bar for pullups


any advice?

double end bag, some dumbbells for shadow boxing and a dipping bench (power tower, or w/e they are called).

Forget the mirrors, just buy some plastic mirror sheets you don't have to worry about them breaking, search it to know exactly what i'm talkin' about.

As someone had already suggested, just get a power tower, you can do your pushups/pullups/and dips on 'em, it's basically an all-in-one workout apparatus, I think they run between $250-$450 and you don't have to worry to find a spot to hang 'em like pull up bars. Ringside and/or Title sells 'em

If you're planning to lift weights, I'd suggest you get the Powerblock, they're adjustable dumbells, the type of you get varies, I have the one that goes from 10lbs up to 50lbs, it beats buying 5 - 10 different weights of dumbells. BTW I forgot about a medicine ball for upper body plyometric.... how to know which weight fit my needs?

About the dumbells... I prefer to use the weight equipment at my gym... But maybe I could buy some elastic band to add resistance during training...

About the double end bag: are you sure that it is good for a practicer of muay thai?

and what should I fill with the heavy bag? with sand or water? How far from the ceiling should it be? Better a bag on the ground or one hanging?
