View Full Version : Stop Complaining about the Pride HW Turney

The Ensanity

Its shaping up to be real good, but people still are complaining about it.

"TOO MANY CANS" is the number 1 complaint.

Well, first off, Pride cant get a good number of fighters that they would want to bring in. Inoki, K-1, and the UFC aint letting their fighters go no where near Pride. Dont you think Pride would like to have Barnett, Rizzo, Tim, Fujita, and Sapp? Dont you think they would want to stack their turney with those fan favorites? Well they cant due to the fact the rival events aint letting it happen

Secondly, Pride is RICH, but thats still alot of MONEY. Even if they had access to EVERY FIGTER THEY WANTED, could they afford ALL of the ones people are asking for? or would the PROFIT be greater to get he big 3, a few threats, some competitive guys, and a few fan fav cans(fan fav for Japan)? We dont know, but Pide will do whats best for the business.

Another thing people love to say "The GP is suppose to show who is the best, and this isnt the best"

Nope. Gp is simple a turney. It never stated that it would have ONLY the best come in and fight. Even if it did, it doesnt show who is the best fighter. It may show who is the toughest, who is the most luckiest, who is the most focused but not the best. To show who is the best you have beat the best with the focus on each other. Not a GP.

"Blah blah dont deserve to be there"==> This is a common one

To this I say "Says who?". If he gets the attention of fans(Japan), then he derses to be in it. Pride brings in 2 types of fighters...Good ones(got to be entertaining to stay or they get Ricco/Horn'ed) and fan favs(pro wrestlers and freaks)...I dont always agree with it, but I learned to except it.

So in wrapping this up, So far we got 9 good fighters. 9 !!! with 4 more names to be announced. The big 3 are in it. GP champion and Dark horse is back in it. Some NEW and PROMISING names are in it. This GP is going to be exciting and fun. I know there are going to be some objections but just try to enjoy. This is the playoffs, no.1 vs no.8, in this first round. Fireworks and beatdowns...maybe a few upsets. I cant wait.

So, basicly we should stop complaining that PRIDE is putting on a sub par show? I have every right to complain as long as I am backing up my point.

People that just say "PRIDE sucks" or "PRIDE is better because they pay more" ect. need to shut up. People that add something to a conversation and back up thier gervinces with facts add something.

If PRIDE had just made this an 8 man event, it would of been SO much better

This GP is going to suck until maybe the final 4, some events in the final 8 will be interesting, but the first round is going to blow harder than Paris Hilton

The last time any pro wrestler beat anyone good was PRIDE 3. Sure, fights like Schembri vs Sakuraba happen once in awhile in PRIDE. Even with that, Schembri was a legitimate fighter. Not very good, but legit.

The only match I think might be interesting involving one of the people that doesn't have a chance is Leko vs Cro Cop.

I want to see if Mirko would stand with him, or try and take him down

Let's focus on the topic of this event as a whole.

It is one of a kind. No other organization is going to do this for you in the near future. Be appreciative. This event has alot of great fighter and the list isn't even complete. So relax, don't worry, be happy.

Pride has been on a roll as of late with great shows. I don't think this one will be any different.

My point is that they should just skip to the second round. Why add in an extra round if your just going to fill it with matches no one really wants to see?

Can you honestly tell me you want to see Fedor vs Giant Silva rather than Fedor vs Coleman?

The Ensanity

We will see Fedor and Coleman...Just enjoy Fedor destroying G.Silva

I like the fact that there are a couple "wildcards" like Terkay, Sentoryu and Leko. There's still 4 open spots, so you shouldn't judge it quite yet.

i am excited for this GP... can't wait. Once again, Pride's shows cater to the japanese audience, and they include in the GP the fighters that the JAPANESE people would like to see.
To DSE, the North American market is just extra profit. If you think is ridiculous, and that there is no need for round 1, blah, blah... simply don't watch it and wait for the final round, simple ****.

They haven't forgotten us, though. They have a great roster of HW.

The truth is that with Inoki and K-1, Pride is trying to give the JAPANESE fans what they want to the best of their abilities. They can't bring in a lot of fighter because of contractuals agreements and what not. there is always politics in every sport and I think we're getting a decent show. Like I said before, If there are people out there that feel that they're are somehow being taken advantage of, and shouldn't put up with it... then simply don't watch the show.

His answer would be his own opinion and wishes.

Pride is giving us reality.

I must repeat myself. No other MMA show has ever had a tourney with this many stars.

You know, I've said the same thing a couple of times already, but still some people think Pride is evil and try to give us crappy shows.

Bottom line is, there is no better MMA organization than Pride.

Pride is best show with most of best fighter. End of story. I'm looking forward to this show myself, I'm just not looking as foward to the opening round as much as the finals.

I would love to see Mirko vs. Fedor in the opening round, but something tells me that's not gonna happen. Do you think we'll see some of the best fighters matched up against each other in the first round?

Nuno
03-31-2004, 02:09 PM
Probably not, but I'm sure there will be some interesting matchups and upsets. I gonna skip the spoilers and watch it as if it were live. More drama for me that way.

I agree with Nuno agreeing with lightweight agree.... well you get the idea.

People like underdogs. They want a cinderella story.
We keep seeing Phil Baroni (who has a loosing record) in the UFC and no one says anything. What about Tank Abbot?

I'm just guessing but probably see a bunch of grapplers vs. stikers. They'll give Fedor, Nog and Mirko guys that they should beat in the first round and we probably won't see a Fedor vs Cro Cop. In the middleweight GP they said they drew names but the fights seemed to work out the way they wanted with Jackson and Silva in the finals and Chuck vs Jackson and Yoshida and Silva in the Semi's.

What is wrong with Leko? Rumor has it that this guy can bang with the best of them. I myself have not seen this guy as I don't watch K-1, can anyone out there tell me why they think this guy doesn't stand a chance of making past the first round? The guy I work with says he is comparible to CroCop in his stand up game.

Because if he faces anyone with a half decent ground game, he loses

I think the main complaint is, that Pride has yet to get one top guy from any other organization. Barnett from Pancrease, Sapp from K1, a UFC rep. Why no Rizzo? Why not KOTC champs, so atleast you champs from around the world fighting in the so called tourney to determine the best. Instead of Giant something or other and Yoshi Yammamoto Suzuki or what ever. Just my thought.

Im excited about the show...that many heavyweight fights is always exciting. But i wish different orgs. would work together to have the best face the best but i understand that money is involved, meaning it will never happen.
