With just over a month remaining before the world's biggest MMA organization returns to Canada for "UFC 97: Redemption," the UFC has officially announced the evening's full activities.

Featuring a main event of middleweight champion Anderson Silva versus challenger Thales Leites, UFC 97 will also feature 11 other matchups.

UFC 97 is scheduled for April 18 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The main card will air live on pay-per-view.

Almost one year to the day after the UFC's first visit to Canada for UFC 83 in April 2008, the Bell Centre once again reached sell-out status in less than one week. UFC 83 set the organization's all-time attendance (21,390) and live gate ($5.1 million) records.

The evening's full card will now include:

MAIN CARD (televised)

* Middleweight champ Anderson Silva vs. Thales Leites
* Chuck Liddell vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
* Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Brian Stann
* Cheick Kongo vs. Antoni Hardonk
* Luis Cane vs. Steve Cantwell

PRELIMINARY CARD (un-televised)

* Jason MacDonald vs. Nate Quarry
* Ed Herman vs. David Loiseau
* David Bielkheden vs. Mark Bocek

It will be good to see Silva back in action
considering the way his last fight went.

If Liddell cant beat Shogun he should retire.
Brian Stann the former WEC champion
now in the UFC should be interesting.
Cheick Kongo should provide a great KO.

Not a bad card.

I was hoping to see Stann vs Cantwell III but I guess that'll have to wait. Other than that I'm happy with the card.

Hardonk vs Kongo should be interesting and hopefully be a standup exchange since neither one are grapplers by trade.

Liddell vs Shogun was one I would've like to seen 3 years ago. Now I'm not so sure. Liddell is nearing 40 and is showing signs of age and laziness. Shogun IMO is never gonna be the same again.

Silva vs Leites, Silva finishes him swiftly. Leites is lucky to be having a title shot.

Funny how all the Canadian fighters are on the prelims but I guess it goes to show that GSP is the only star Canada has produced.

Liddell should win this one as Shogun's looked like crap, and have you noticed the streak Chuck's had .. it's that he's lost main events

UFC 71 vs Rampage 1st round KO loss, was the main event
UFC 76 vs Jardine 3 round Split decision loss, was the main event
UFC 79 vs Silva won a 3 round decision .... not in the main event
UFC 88 vs Evans knocked out in the 2nd round was the main event

and now he's fighting at UFC 97 not in the main event, I say he wins.
