The first round looks like it's shaping up to be the contenders vs. the cans. Mr. Beelzebub 03-31-2004, 10:06 AM Kharatonov is gonna surprise a lot of people. The Ensanity 03-31-2004, 10:17 AM Originally posted by Mr. Beelzebub Kharatonov is gonna surprise a lot of people. Isnt he like a really good wrestler? or maybe Im thinking of someone else Mr Boogaloo 03-31-2004, 10:37 AM He trains/has trained with Fedor, hasn't he? Nuno 03-31-2004, 11:21 AM Originally posted by Curly Howard Giant Silva? The first round looks like it's shaping up to be the contenders vs. the cans. Giant Silva is the only can in this new list. Mr. Beelzebub 03-31-2004, 11:40 AM Sergei Kharitonov is the guy that beat the LA Giant (tall **** with manboobs and SS tatoos). He has good submission skills and a decent stand up. As far as I know he hasn't trained with Fedor; he is alo from Russia. Moscow, Russia Nuno 03-31-2004, 11:56 AM Man, I can't wait for this show!!! Fallout 03-31-2004, 12:04 PM only name on that this with a chance is Coleman The others, who cares Squezze 03-31-2004, 12:31 PM Sources? The Ensanity 03-31-2004, 12:32 PM Originally posted by Creed only name on that this with a chance is Coleman The others, who cares So they should just do a final 4 in your eyes, huh? Fallout 03-31-2004, 12:35 PM Originally posted by The Ensanity So they should just do a final 4 in your eyes, huh? an 8 man event. Yes, thats all they should do. 16 is too many, it thins out the talent pool and turns it into a joke Nuno 03-31-2004, 12:38 PM Originally posted by Creed turns it into a joke In whose eyes? The Ensanity 03-31-2004, 12:38 PM Could be a few dark horses....thats why they fight Fallout 03-31-2004, 12:38 PM Mirko Nogueria Fedor Erickson Barrnett Herring Coleman Hirotaka Yokoi (as the fighter from japan) Thats the event I would want to see. I don't want to see a bunch of pro wrestlers thrown in there, just to squeeze out another round and get more money The Ensanity 03-31-2004, 12:43 PM Thats called the second round, except for Barnett.. Dude, Just sit back and enjoy...Upsets may happen. Leko and sergei are made for upsets Fallout 03-31-2004, 12:45 PM Leko isn't gonna beat anyone good. His only chance is if they match him up against someone that sucks Nuno 03-31-2004, 12:46 PM Originally posted by The Ensanity Leko and sergei are made for upsets Don't count out Yokoi either. Nuno 03-31-2004, 12:47 PM Originally posted by Creed Leko isn't gonna beat anyone good. His only chance is if they match him up against someone that sucks And you know this how? The Ensanity 03-31-2004, 12:49 PM Originally posted by Creed Leko isn't gonna beat anyone good. His only chance is if they match him up against someone that sucks There are times when your opinion is GOOD, HELL Ill go as far as to say GREAT! But that one is just dumb. You are dismissed. Fallout 03-31-2004, 12:53 PM Originally posted by Nuno And you know this how? Because he has never fought in MMA before? Cro Cop got easied into it like an old man getting into a hot bath. If Leko had the same treatment, he would be on his way to become a great fighter. But to throw him into an event where he is probably going to end up facing someone like Coleman or Fedor or Nogueria, its suicide The Ensanity 03-31-2004, 12:57 PM Im willing to bet he is getting a can for his first opponent...only time will tell Fallout 03-31-2004, 01:01 PM Originally posted by The Ensanity Im willing to bet he is getting a can for his first opponent...only time will tell Which is excatly why I don't want to watch the first round. Whats the point? The second round might prove more interesting, and I am such I will want to watch the finals. BUt whats the point of watching the first round if I already know whats going to happen? Bluecifer 03-31-2004, 01:07 PM I'd take Erickson out of that and put in Rizzo. Fallout 03-31-2004, 01:09 PM Originally posted by Blue Dawg I'd take Erickson out of that and put in Rizzo. I'd rather see Erickson fight, but thats a personal choice. I can tell you for damn sure that no one wants to see Giant Silva fight. So why make it a 16 man event? Nuno 03-31-2004, 01:09 PM Originally posted by Creed BUt whats the point of watching the first round if I already know whats going to happen? It official. You know nothing about MMA. Personally, I never thought some lesser known Russian guy named Fedor would beat Herring, let alone Nog. MMA is full of suprises buddy. You should of learned this by now. Bluecifer 03-31-2004, 01:48 PM Coleman is going to beat Mirko if he faces him. Kempo Chris 03-31-2004, 02:04 PM Source is from Pride They officially announced this lightweight 03-31-2004, 04:12 PM I'm really excited about Leko being in there, he's no doubt my favorite k-1 fighter. I'm glad he's trying mma. HockeyFighter 03-31-2004, 04:59 PM Originally posted by Creed I'd rather see Erickson fight, but thats a personal choice. I can tell you for damn sure that no one wants to see Giant Silva fight. So why make it a 16 man event? The Japanese do. End of discussion. You know nothing about MMA. Personally, I never thought some lesser known Russian guy named Fedor would beat Herring, let alone Nog. MMA is full of suprises buddy. You should of learned this by now. I knew Fedor would beat Herring and I thought Fedor had a chance with Nogueria. Upsets are great, hopeless causes are another. If you actually think one of thoses tomato cans will actually beat anyone good outside of a lightinig bolt or a bout of south american death flu, then its you that knows nothing about MMA Nuno 04-01-2004, 01:23 PM So far I only see 3 cans who don't stand a chance. The others all have a chance. mmafanman 04-01-2004, 02:11 PM Originally posted by Creed I knew Fedor would beat Herring and I thought Fedor had a chance with Nogueria. Upsets are great, hopeless causes are another. If you actually think one of thoses tomato cans will actually beat anyone good outside of a lightinig bolt or a bout of south american death flu, then its you that knows nothing about MMA I hate to admit it, but I agree with Creed here. If the "senseless beatdown" aspect of this sport intrigues you more than seeing a COMPETITIVE fight, then there's no point in arguing anymore. My only suggestion is that you watch Igor vs. Enson on a loop instead of wasting your time with this GP. You'll save yourself $30. If you think that pro-wrestlers and guys with ZERO MMA experience deserve to be in the GP simply because "there aren't a lot of available heavyweights out there so it won't be as balanced as the LH GP," then you're lying to yourself. And that's your problem. I've been to so many other message boards with fans calling out at least a dozen legitimate and available heavyweights. Why weren't they invited? Did DSE even consider them? I doubt it. If Pride really wanted to tout this event as being a prestigious one filled with the best, they wouldn't have subjected a few of their heavyweights to these absolute bull**** "survival matches." They would've just cut it down to eight of their elite competitors, and relegated their zero-MMA experience K-1 stars and pro-wrestling actors to their smaller shows. K-1 is already a circus, Pride is not too far behind, and the gap is thinning. Mr. Beelzebub 04-01-2004, 02:21 PM I am picking Kharitonov for the upset against Mirko... Igor by KO!!!!!!!11111111 The Ensanity 04-01-2004, 02:36 PM The Predator is offically out He is under K-1 contract and they want to **** with Pride Nuno 04-01-2004, 02:42 PM Originally posted by mmafanman If you think that pro-wrestlers and guys with ZERO MMA experience deserve to be in the GP... PRIDE?? ( Post #1 of 10 ) Seems K-1 are doing what they can to **** with PRIDE...they have justsigned the predator so it looks like he is OUT of the GP. This is on sportsnavi and other japanese sights Next rumour is that Leko may be about to re-sign with K-1 and walk from Pride too....... Nuno 04-01-2004, 04:10 PM Since we can't read japanese to confirm, it's an April Fools joke. |
