on my street last night. NOT a usual event here. They did shoot at one house in particular and shot at it 17 times with a rifle of some sort. Hubby said the cartridges were .223s. I know very little about guns, but one guy said it was a AK47. Scary as hell.

The upside is we met some of our neighbors. Sad way to do it, though.

I just got in a BIG argument about guns last night. We have a new concealed weapons law that now allows you to carry loaded hand guns. What this means is that every idiot with a hero complex can now carry a glock and a shoulder holster and pretend he's Wyatt Earp. The big argument is that "Well the bad guys got'em so why can't we?"

My problem with it is...
Catch your wife cheating, get fired from a job, loose a fight, get in an accident etc.. and boom. I got a gun right here.
or
It was an accident.
or
I thought he had a gun.

They're supposed to take a test and do a criminal and mental evaluation but how many people have killed that have no history of either? Quite a few.
and now the person you flip off for cutting you off in traffic just might have a 9mm hand gun in their jacket.

I believe everyone should know how to handle a gun. People should know how to take care of themselves and be able to hunt game and defend their homes but that's JMO. I own a 12 gauge shot gun that is locked up in a closet in my bedroom with a trigger lock and in a locked case. My kids have been shown what it can do and what it's all about. Now it's not a "big secret" so they don't care to play with it. My wife knows how to fire it and how to safely use it. (check your backround, don't shoot through walls etc). Guns are tools not toys or hobbies. They are made to hunt game and defend your home. Not just from people but from animals too. (snakes wild dogs mountian lions coytes, we have all of them). They're not for some guy with little man syndrome to walk around like dirty harry.
Handing out permits for people to carry .357 penis extensions is insane.

do you find it a coincedence that the NRA was formed the same year that the KKK was designated as a terrorist group and forced underground?

That doesnt even make sence the kk was formed as a different group and later changed. The kkk was around way before the nra you're thinking of the year that the kkk became a illegal group.

I agree with you. I prefer our guns locked up. In Ca. if someone gets ahold of your weapon because you didn't have it locked up, and they or someone else gets hurt, you are held responsible. Fully. Right after that law passed, a police officer's weapon was found by his small child. The child died.

Ours are locked up tight with trigger locks as well. I think that assault rifles of any sort should be outlawed. You don't need one to hunt with. Not if you are a true sportsman.

No one hunts deer with a 60 bullet, full automatic weapon. Samething for a semi auto like a tech 9. A standard rifle or a shotgun are what most people use.

Or show off your real skill and hunt deer with a bow and arrow

You don't even see squirrels around my way, so there is no need for guns for me. I don't think I am gonna be hunting as long as there are pathmarks and A&Ps.

It also made finding women easier. No dinner, no movie....just a club and drag. You should try that with Allison, let us know how it goes
