View Full Version : Just got back from the Philippines!
We want Floyd 03-09-2009, 04:59 AM Whew, what a vacation! Hmm, I don't know where to start, haven't been back to Manila for some years now. Personally, I wasn't really looking forward to the trip as it was unplanned, more of a family obligation, really.
Let me say this, it was the best Philippine vacation to date. The last time I was in the Phil was also great, but this time it topped the last one.
Prior to me departing for the Philippines, they had just shown A. Bourdain's show, No Reservations featuring the Phil here in the US. The show did change my attitude towards my sudden trip. Right when I got off the Airport, I was picked up by my fam, who had already arrived a week prior. We went straight to my Gramps' house for a few hours and headed off to a resort.
Next day, we left the resort, hung around Manila for a bit, and went back to a condo we had rented out for our trip somehwere in Alabang. Here's the kicker, a friend of ours was also vacationing and his cousin happens to be friend's with a person who owns a modeling agency. I didn't know this, but Brazilian models are the current trend in the Philippines, we partied with them and some local models as well.
But, it wasn't the models or brazilian chicks that did it for me. Meeting other women was even better, they didn't have the "model attitude". My boys and I headed off to Boracay for a few days. Seafood after seafood, shake after shake, smoothie after smoothie, massage at the beach every f**king day! Ya can't beat it, and the dollar goes a long way in the Philippines
if anyone is interested in vacationing in the Philippines, I'd say Feb thru April is the best time to visit because the weather is perfect tropical weather, and the beaches/resorts/clubs are not jampacked with other tourists and the airfare is low compared to peak seasons. But you get a healthy dose of the international crowd mixed in w/ the locals.
Since Bourdain's show was still fresh in my mind. Right after the Boracay trip, I, my cousin, grampa and driver drove to Pampanga to check out one of the featured places in the Bourdain show, Aling Lucing's Sisig(had no idea she had a branch in Makati, nothing like the original place though). Let me tell y'all, I've eaten Sisig a number of times throughout my life, and Lucing's is by far the best! Her restaurant also served other stuff that we tried and they were bomb too, we ordered a bunch of to-go items at Lucing's to bring back to Manila to share with the rest of the family and they loved it!
We also ate at this place called Dampa in Paranaque, it's basically the same idea that Bourdain ate at when he went to Binondo where he ate the crabs & shrimp cooked in coconut milk. It was f**king delicious. We also had two lechons at my family party. We also had dinner at the Fort for two nights, and **** was bomb too. The one I liked was this resto called Abe, which serves Pinoy food.
I also went to Tagaytay, boy, the place has grown since the last time I was there, it's full of restos and bars all alongside Aguinaldo hwy. I went to Laguna to check out this waterfall, it was more of a chill trip, beautiful countryside. After Tagaytay my cousin and I went scuba diving in Anilao, Batangas for a day, diving in Anilao was something else!
Two weeks wasn't enough, but my vacation went at a hectic pace, got to see alot of places and did plenty of things. I can't wait for my next trip to the Phil, I've never been to Cebu, but i'm dying to try out their Lechon and checkout Cebu's beaches.
Boracay's kinda getting old for me, I've never been to Palawan, that's definitely gonna be on my target next time around, and also would like to see other places all around the Phil.
My goal for my next trip is to see more of the Phil and also do more scuba diving, and of course more sisig and San Mig to start the night before heading to the Fort, yeah!

Hey Mak.
I've lived in Korea and Thaliand, and I think it's cuz the Koreans figured out the Phils were better than Thaliand and cheaper too if you're not looking for some tail.
Thai still pretty much rocks the world when it comes to that, but in all my time in Asia (3 1/2 years) I never been to the PI.
I don't want to offend any Pinoys, but I think the massage parlours, etc have got to be good. Plus, the girl will speak good english so you can actually converse beyond a third grade level in English if you like em.

thailand is on my list J
i've heard so many good things, not just 'those' things but the whole cultural experience was top notch from those that have gone
and yea maing, in philippines, those places have some nice girls...you'll run into hustla *****es in manila but overrall, they're nice people...and agreed on the english...ive brought viet friends and whites that dont know a lick of tagalog but they seemed to have good conversations...
the food, the weather, the people with their hospitality; i highly recommend you take a visit....it'll be worth your time
nycbigdogII 03-09-2009, 10:46 PM Im going back in a few weeks, probably some time in april...Man, all this talk is making me want to go right now...
Anyway, the Ktvs in Quezon are the ****.... I went to Pegasus a few years back and they had probably top of the line honies in the country, no lie... The Fort is probably the "in" thing still with clubs like Embasssy amongst others... Its ok, if you're into pretentious Pinoy rich kids, but unfortunately my vacations are too short for games...
Spent a few days in Pampanga, particularly Angeles City... Checked out the bars on Fields Ave. and found nothing to rave about other than the cheap barfine prices...lol... Too many foreigners, especially the white military red-neck types, which I had too many run ins which didnt conclude pleasantly (for them).... Oh, if you're into pool, you can get a custom made pool cue for very cheap in Angeles... I got mine, I think for $65 and its probably worth over $350 here in NYC...
The thing is PI is way too big to experience everything in only two weeks so I'll probably focus on the Southern part... I never really experienced Cebu so I'll start there then ultimately end up in Davao... If anyone knows of the "hotspots" or places of interest, a heads up is much appreciated...

On a sidenote - My boys spotted PAC at his own club, for those of you who don't know, guess what PAC's club is called? He named it "Hollywood", there's nothin' hanky panky goin' on though, they're basically all GRO's but my boys told me that PAC's GRO's are pretty hot. And they described the place as plush looking.
When they saw PAC sitting at one of the tables he was surrounded with these f*ne @ss broads, I hope Jinkee ain't readin' this sh*t, 'cause what I'm tellin' y'all is real. And I also know someone that works at the Hyatt in Manila, and it is true that PAC and Ara Mina checked in together! This person saw them with *** own eyes.
I also saw PAC's resort in Boracay, it's pretty f**kin' dope, it appeared to be almost done. It's located on the opposite side of where station 1 thru 3 is, you'd have to do the island hopping tour to see it.
