If you ever want to KO someone hit them with an uppercut, Its my favourite punch.

The uppercut is such an effective knockout punch due to its accessability to the chin. Just about anytime a well thrown punch lands right on that proverbial button, it puts the fighter down. The uppercut, rather than being thrown any harder, comes from such an angle, that when it lands undeflected, it is usually right on the chin.

lets say ur right handed okay (TYSON!) a uppercut (a good one atleast) requires you to put all ur weight on ur right foot and hit..meaning the uppercut is carrying your body weight as you lean on ur foot and turn ti connect it - carries weight, a lot behind it-get me....and like he said...duh!

Next to a perfect left hook, the uppercut is a devestating weapon that is not used by todays fighters like it was in the 70's and 80's.

Remember Larry Holmes vs Mike Weaver and Ernie Shavers?

I think the reason that the uppercut isn't used as much is for 1, there aren't really any inside fighters, at least in the heavies any more. 2, by throwing the uppercut it leaves you wide open for a hook. It is still nice to see once in a while though.

I think Hatton throws some pretty good uppercuts on the inside.
