Cagewarriors 7: Showdown will be held in West Yorkshire on Sunday 9th May at the Barnsley Metrodome previously home to the coveted ABA Boxing finals. This is a class venue which is capable of holding between 1500-1800 spectators and meets all the criteria needed to host another spectacular Cagewarriors event with spacious surroundings, sexy ring girls, stunning sound system and a balcony overlooking the action for those with VIP tickets with a bar for those who like liquid as well at fight entertainment.
The Full fight card will be announced in due course, but it will include the final of the “Last Man Standing Tournament” as the number 1 and 2 contenders are prepared for a showdown of epic proportions as the vacant CWFC Featherweight (Under 65Kg) title is on the line. Former amateur boxing star Ian Butlin (5-1-0) fighting out of the Quannum Gym in Manchester England takes on the unbeaten French submission specialist Emmanuel Fernandez (3-0-0) in the final.
Butlin who voiced his frustrations at Cagewarriors 6 this past weekend after going through to the final by forfeit after his opponent dropped out, will no doubt have the home advantage. However the French BJJ champion Emmanuel Fernandez will be a formidable opponent after making short work of his previous 3 opponents at the CWFC, where he helped France to victory at the UK vs. France 5 match Series in Cagewarriors 4, beat the Cage Rage Featherweight Champion Peter Tiarks at Cagewarriors 5, and this weekend beat the Judoka, James Lutman by a triangle choke.
Fernandez who has never gone past round 1 in his MMA career will be looking to continue this record against Ian Butlin who has never lost at the 65kg/145lbs weight class.
