USA DOMINATES RUSSIA IN M-1 CARD
Going into this weekend's M-1 card, many people thought the USA would do well to come away with a split in ten fights. Well they did a little better than that.....o.k. a LOT better than that. USA dominated this event winning 8 of 9 fights.
In an interesting turn of events Arias Garcia Jr., reporting for MMAWeekly, said that the Russian Team is protesting the last four matches of the MFC card. The reason why was not clearly defined, but the story was confirmed from the Russian Promoter in that a formal protest would be made. MMAWeekly will continue to follow this developing story.
Heavyweight Fight:: Travis Wiuff (Team Extreme, Owatonna, Minnesota) def. Roman Zentsov (M.F.C. World Champion, Red Devil Team, St Petersburg, Russia) - Round 2 - Ref. Stoppage
Wiuff pushed the action and was in control most of the fight. He got a full mount and opened up a cut that allowed for a great deal of blood. Zentsov could not fully defend the strikes and the referee jumped in to stop the action. A solid victory for the veteran Wiuff and an overall impressive outing for Team USA.
185 LBS: Trevor Prangley (Team AKA, Boise, ID) def. Andrei Semenov (Red Devil Team, St Petersburg, Russia) by Unanimous Decision
Team USA continues to win as this was an all out war. Prangley secures the nod from the judges in this action packed back and forth fight.
170 LBS: Derrick Noble (Silverbacks, Canton, IL) def. Musail Allaudinov (Red Devil Team, St Petersburg, Russia) by Unanimous Decision
Fight #6: 205 LBS: Chael Sonnen (Team Quest, Portland, OR) def. Arman Gambaryan (Red Devil Team, St Petersburg, Russia) by Unanimous Decision
Fight #5: 155 LBS: Rich "No Love" Clementi (Team Extreme, Atlantic City, NJ) def. Sergey Goliaev (Red Devil Team, St Petersburg, Russia) by Round 2 - Tapout/Triangle
Fight of the night thus far as Clementi was dropped twice to the ground and still managed to keep going and secure the victory via submission.
Fight 4#: Heavyweights: Sergey Kaznovski (Red Devil Team, St Petersburg, Russia) def. Ron Faircloth (Strasser's Freestyle Academy, Kenosha, WI) - Round 1 - KO
This one ends quick within the first 30 seconds as the Russian got a vicious KO.
Fight #3: 205 LBS: Brian Ebersole (Team AKA, San Jose, CA) def. Alexei Veselovzorov (Red Devil Team, St Petersburg, Russia) - Round 3 - Ref. Stoppage
Ebersole had the mount and was landing big strikes to the face. Veselovzorov could not defend and the referee stopped the action.
Fight #2: Heavyweights: Justin Eilers (Team EXTREME, Moline, IL) def. Mikhail Bogdanov (Red Devil Team, St Petersburg, Russia) - Bogdanov can't answer the bell at opening of Round 2
Action packed fight as the Russian landed some big bombs. Eilers was actualy thrown out of the ring. There was a pause to see if he could continue, but it was Bogdanov that appeared to injure his right leg that could not make the bell.
