View Full Version : So who likes this Drake guy, eh?
Floyd Sinclair 02-26-2009, 04:17 PM First off Drake is a really stupid name for a rapper but Ill give this guy a pass, he can rap and his flow is very impressive. He reminds me of Lil Wayne, but at this point hes better then weezy.

don't forget where you came from, Drake! and we all saw your ass on Degrassi in that wheelchair so you best be good or the blackmale material WILL surface. haha.
Floyd Sinclair 02-26-2009, 04:31 PM does he have any other good cds besides that new mixtape, eh? What would you recommend to me, eh?
MegStarr* 02-26-2009, 04:39 PM well, eh
honestly,
eh
i havn't listened to drake in a couple of years so i know nothing about his new material. i listened to him when no one knew who he was and then i forgot about him until he started getting all this buzz with Weezy and i was like woahhh same dude who got booed opening for Mos Def is getting famous. his performance skills must have improved significantly. i use to really like him. i don't know any of his new material though.
i really liked replacement girl :)
pure sexy Toronto females up in the video!!!! REPRESENT!
oh and little sidebar story...Drake hollered at my best friend once. he was like, "Whats up, mami?" and she just brushed him off. then she found out who he was and was very disappointed in herself. haha.

No women has ever brushed me off, but I suppose they would also be disappointed with themselves if they found out......
uhh anyways, I was just joking with that "eh" stuff, i used to have a friend from Canada that said "eh" and "aboot" instead of "about". He also said "broder" instead of brother.
It seems like a rappers flow is the most important thing in todays game, Im guessin Drakes flow wasnt anything that stood out a couple years ago. I thought he just started rapping now, I had never heard of him until a week or 2 ago. Was his old stuff any good, or worth downloading?
MegStarr* 02-26-2009, 05:08 PM yeah i know what you were doing with the eh ****. haha. my parents sent me to rehab for like 2 years in Utah when i was 15 and everyone use to make fun of my Canadian "accent".
i have always found his flow to be very unique and appealing, its just that he wasn't very good live. he just wasn't developed enough yet. he looked like a kid trying to rap. there was a lot of room for improvement performance wise but his recorded material was always really catchy although there was never much of it. he was a "myspace rapper" for the past few years as far as i know it's not like he was dropping steady material.
this is some more of his older stuff

Floyd Sinclair 02-26-2009, 05:23 PM Both those songs were good...they didnt leave me with the feeling that I need to find more music from him but they were good songs. His flow was similar then compared to how it is now but it sounds like he finally learned how to have more confidence in himself and shine in front of others.
MegStarr* 02-26-2009, 05:39 PM yeah i should probably peep some of his new material
im just excited that someone else from Toronto is potentially making it big. there are so much talent up here and Canada never gets the recognition it desreves.
if you want to download an album that will be entirely worth your while and that you will praise me for recommending get Da Grassroots "A Passage Through Time"
possibly the best hip hop album to have ever come out of Canada. so slept on. sick smooth production that will blow your mind.
Floyd Sinclair 02-26-2009, 05:54 PM im downloadin that cd right now, ill let you know what i think

i'm excited for you.
And im excited for you :wank:
sorry, if you want me to stop with that I will :o
I would rate this cd very high...although its not really my style anymore, they did that style the best it could be done. The lyrics were consistently very good throughout the cd, the beats were chilled layback old school jazzy sounding. I gotta listen to this more still but after my first listen, my favorites were:
Last Days, Body Language, and political proverbs
Amir K Shareef 02-26-2009, 07:26 PM Drake is a damn beast, plus he use to be on Degrasssii!!! lol BEAST!!
And he is a singer too.. LOL
MegStarr* 02-26-2009, 07:29 PM trust me the Degrassi thing is NOT going to work to his advantage a little farther down the line...

How not?
No one cares if he was on that show..
It just proves how talented he is.

oh i don't personally care
if anything, good for him. he wouldn't be anywhere musically right now if it weren't for that show because that's how he made all the money that he spent on studio time and such. im just saying that the media will use it to bite him in the ass. no doubt.
