I embaressed to say I never heard his debut in its entirety....how good is it?

I would imagine it must be crazy...ODB had his own style and flow...

yea, alotta people say its a classic. I think its a good cd but i dont see why so many call it a classic or even great...no disrespect to odb but im a much bigger fan of his verses on some of the wu-tang cds then his solo career.

his career is overrated, but "Return To The 36 Chambers" is insane.

I completely agree. Return to the 36 Chambers is original and you gotta give it a listen, but the other Wu-Tang members solo albums are leagues above ODB's.

you can't hold him to the same standard as Raekwon, Ghostface, etc. because their styles far surpass his in terms of maturity, but that's the thing about ODB...he is the only artist who could pull off such extreme immaturity. if anyone else were to flow like him it would be called wack, but with ODB it's a glorious package deal. he's the Old Dirty Bastard, and he spits like he's an old dirty bastard. his style is wild, and what most people don't give him credit for is how organic he would spit. ODB would spit off the top like no one i have ever seen. he's a legend.

This album is so grimey and original..odb could be lyrical,spit straight fire or just hit u with some crazy ****..alot of wu members could kill u lyricaly but he was the other chamber unlike any other and decided to go that route..he was so sick on reunited,he just spit straight fire...i miss that originality he is a legend

I think its not a classic because the album wasn't consistent. I only listen to about half the tracks. Shimmy, brklyn zoo, raw hide, snakes, protect 2, damage.
