UFC Ranks Among Videoscan’s Top 10 Sports Titles in Weekly Sales and Year-To-Date Sales

Thousand Oaks, CA (March 2, 2004) –The Ultimate Fighting Championship brand of mixed martial arts is well on its way to championship status on the DVD sales charts. Distributed on DVD by StudioWorks Entertaiment, the UFC® brand is packing a punch at retail with three titles now available, including UFC: Ultimate Knockouts 1&2, UFC 43: Meltdown and UFC® 44: Undisputed.

Videoscan’s latest weekly DVD sales chart for the period ending February 25, 2004 ranks UFC 44: Undisputed in the #9 position among all sports titles sold on DVD. Following closely behind, UFC 43: Meltdown ranks #11 and UFC: Ultimate Knockouts 1&2 ranks #12 among all sports titles. The year-to-date DVD sales chart ranks UFC: Ultimate Knockouts 1&2 #7 in the sports genre. The next title, UFC 45: Revolution will hit stores on April 20, 2004.

Best Buy reports UFC 44 ranks #3, UFC 43 ranks #5 and Ultimate Knockouts 1&2 ranks #6. UFC 43: Meltdown, took place June 6 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas and features reigning Light Heavyweight Champion Randy “The Natural” Couture’s stunning upset of top contender Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell for the interim light heavyweight title. The under card is stacked with such UFC stars as Tank Abbott, Kimo, Vitor Belfort, Frank Mir, Yves Edwards, and Ian Freeman.

UFC 44: Undisputed, held September 26 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, relives Couture’s dominating victory over Tito Ortiz for the undisputed championship. The co-main event is a battle of giants as 6’8”, 265-pound reigning UFC Champion Tim Sylvia defends his title against 6’10”, 265-pound challenger Gan McGee. The under card features such rising UFC stars as Rich Franklin, Andrei Arlovski, Hermes Franca, and Josh Thomson for a total of nine fights.

UFC 45: Revolution, held November 22 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, features Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes’ tap out victory over highly regarded Frank Trigg to maintain his Welterweight title. The co-main event is a battle of big punchers as UFC legend Tank Abbott takes on young brawler Cabbage Correira.
