OK here's what I've got going on, and keep in mind I know nothing about computers.
I got the PS2 network adapter thing a couple of weeks ago so I could play Socom 2 online. I don't have a wireless network at home so I had to put a tv by my computer and switch the modem back and forth til I had money for the stuff I needed. Since then it's been a big pain in my ass. PLEASE HELP
1) Bought this wireless gaming transmitter for $100. It's supposed to be made specifically for sending your cable net signal from the modem via transmitter to the receiver at the TV. The downers, you had to switch back and forth between computer and PS2 with a little toggle switch on the transmitter. Which when I switched the computer or PS2 wouldn't work unless I completely repowered everything. Also, it didn't work for ****, I hooked it up last night and repeatedly got booted from the PS2 network, don't think I made it past 15 minutes once.
2) So today I bought a 2nd cable modem for only $79 with a $20 mail in rebate. I thought I was brilliant. Well, can't get this **** to work either. What I'm thinking is that you can't run 2 modems off of the same cable connection, but 2 seperate lines in seperate rooms for some reason, due to the MAC address maybe? Verification on this would be appreciated.
3) So I'm thinking that now I need a router and some sort of wireless network stuff. Am I right? Do you think it will work better than the piece of **** gaming link thing I bought in issue #1?
Any input will be appreciated. Now I've got to unplug my modem and hook it up to my PS2. THIS SUCKS
Then when I come back here I'll have to hook it back up to my computer. ****
