View Full Version : Hennessy: Carl had his last fight on ITV, he is now box office.
Testdead 02-20-2009, 07:37 AM Heard a radio interview and Mick the dick said Froch/Taylor could well be on Sky box office. He then slagged Setanta off by saying how could they show Calzaghe beat up a washed up Jones and that Froch would have knocked Hopkins out in 5rds.
What a knobhead this guy is, just like his fighters (Witter, Froak)
The RealDeal 02-20-2009, 01:00 PM Believing their own hype is a dangerous thing.
Patty Tanager 02-20-2009, 01:47 PM **** that one if you think i'm paying £15 for that fight. Fat bastard.
timbatron 02-20-2009, 02:42 PM Goodbye Froch. I won't be paying to watch you fight Taylor unless you have an amazing undercard.
Napalm Death 02-20-2009, 02:44 PM what a bastard. looks like ill have to watch it through a crappy stream.
sick- 02-20-2009, 03:00 PM What happend to witter will happen to froch. witter tried to make a name of himself by calling ricky out all the time and he got owned by bradderz. Froch is doing the same with calz and he will get owned by taylor
Testdead 02-20-2009, 03:02 PM Mick the dick:
"Slow-Worm would KO Hopkins in 5rds"
Those guys are really thick.

dont rule out a froch win.
medium-deek 02-20-2009, 04:28 PM Finally, someone else to slag off besides Frank Warren.
$partacus 02-21-2009, 04:15 AM I can't see Froch doing many sales on PPV he's not well known enough.
uppercut_84 02-21-2009, 09:18 AM Froch has no following anywhere, except Nottingham. This shows how stupid Mick is, Calzaghe had a few fights on ITV before he started getting recognition. How can you only have 1 fight on ITV and change to Box Office?
Testdead 02-21-2009, 09:56 AM I can't see Froch doing many sales on PPV he's not well known enough.
They will stack the card with Witter and some of the young "name' fighters he has.
Probably strike up a deal to show it the same night as big American fights like warren did to try and justify it.
Zmlacksz 02-21-2009, 09:58 AM This will also be his last fight on sky after he loses, and the small # od ppv(who's gonna pay apart from the northern monkeys in frochland.)
Savino 02-21-2009, 01:13 PM I'd rather download the fight the day after than pay £15 for it on SBO.
hookoutofhell 02-21-2009, 03:15 PM mick is having a laugh if he thinks that froch is PPV material - having a belt doesn't mean jacksh!t these days, carl has been parading that WBC belt like its the f*ck!ng crown jewels.
unless hes fighting taylor or kessler its not worth tuning into imo. id rather just watch it on repeats or download it the next day. the likes of hatton, calzaghe and lewis were all bigger names than froch is before they got their PPV fights.
witter will no doubt be on the undercard, that might actually put alot of ppl off.
adietheforestfa 02-21-2009, 05:36 PM I heard Darren Barker v Duddy could be on undercard.
Cant wait for all the excuses when Froch wins.
Anyway should be on ITV1 imo

Duddy will fight Pavlik next of that there is no doubt.
Not sure about excuses, if Froch wins fair play he is still a dick.
Davros? 02-22-2009, 10:04 AM That would be a terrible PPV, people in the UK don't really like buying PPV outside Hatton there is no way this will sell i would not be surprised if that got less than 10,000 UK buys, Taylor vs Froch should be on ITV.
Decypher 02-24-2009, 08:30 PM Yeah, get boxing seen by the least number of people...
I guess this is the problem with the sport being driven largely by promoters. They aren't in a position to think about the bigger picture. They go for short term $ and **** the sport in the ass in the process.

you really think Froch will beat Taylor?
Napalm Death 02-25-2009, 06:02 AM you really think Froch will beat Taylor?
He will. stoppage in the middle rounds i say.
The_Demon 02-25-2009, 07:42 AM hopkins would school froch is this dick head 4 real
adietheforestfa 02-25-2009, 04:53 PM you really think Froch will beat Taylor?
I sure do!!!!!
Testdead 02-25-2009, 05:15 PM I sure do!!!!!
Thats bold statement.
The tough but limited Pascal had Froch in trouble.
Taylor schools him.
The Gully Gad 02-26-2009, 05:28 AM Carl froch is box office? lololol
Lets see just how many peeps actually order a fight
and you cant count his mom and dad thats not fair

He has a bit of a point with the Jones comment although watching a Jones fight is always interesting and watchable, but the Hopkins comment is just plainly dumb, and as a business point of view they should have this fight on ITV1... would make Froch a definate star if he wins on national television against such a well known fighter and if they build it up right he'd get such a bigger profile than people finding out what happened on the internet because the buyrate would definately not be good.
AndyShitHot 02-26-2009, 09:41 AM This is bull**** if this is true. This fight should be on ITV or at least Setanta, Hatton vs Pacman is the only fight that should be on PPV in the UK. Khan and Froch are not PPV fighters, When Froch has beaten a Taylor or a Kessler on ITV, maybe then he has a shout at PPV, this will not do good numbers and they are deluded if they think it will.
Froch vs Taylor has been a fight i've wanted to see made for ages and even though i'm a fan a Froch, I won't be paying for this one. It's a Sunday download for me as I think it will be for most people.
adietheforestfa 02-26-2009, 06:23 PM Thats bold statement.

You may regret this statement!!! Taylors too small and not strong enough.
Testdead 02-26-2009, 06:47 PM You may regret this statement!!! Taylors too small and not strong enough.
We will see.
I will put all my points on a Taylor win.

bet on.
put on your sig
number6 03-03-2009, 02:21 PM I cant believe this, Froch finaly gets a shot at the world title after being an fairly inactive fighter with a limited fanbase, wins in a good matchup. Now he is worthy of PPV all of a sudden.
He should stick with ITV for a few fights at least, just to build up a fanbase. Trust me, this fight wont sell well in the uk.
Hennessy is dreaming.
BravoTwoZero 03-24-2009, 06:33 PM rather watch **** drip from my arse than to watch carl
Mugwump 03-24-2009, 07:55 PM Setanta's boxing output is fast turning into a bigger joke than Grandstand was before it was axed. At the current rate of attrition it won't be long before the only boxing on there will be Steve Bunce's Boxing Hour. Talk about a shambles.
At least they've still got the Aussie NRL. Not much else to watch on it, really.
Savino 03-24-2009, 08:07 PM ITV gonna have this fight?

LOL true. They have less boxing on every month. they are getting less and less fights now.
Mugwump 03-25-2009, 03:51 AM What really makes me cringe is the way Bunce and the rest of his boxing hour colleagues go to great pains each week explaining how close they are to wrapping up major deals to broadcast fights X, Y & Z soon only for them all to appear on SKY.
You'd think they'd stop this practice for embarassment's sake.

What last major boxing was on Sky except Hatton?.
Testdead 03-25-2009, 11:05 AM According to a friend who is mod on his boxing site Hennessy has made a monumental blunder and they are not sure if anyone will be picking up the UK rights as ITV are digging their heels and want compensation from anyone looking to show the fight. ITV claim a verbal agreement was made to show Froch first two defences and although not binding a legal battle would mean by the time the rights were sorted the fight date would have past.
ITV also say it is not their policy to aquire big time boxing unless it is within 1hr of UK prime time.
Due to it being in America it wont be prime time and unless Setanta or Sky compensate ITV (which i doubt as Froch is not a big name and will draw pitiful figures) the likely outcome is a delay on ITV shown Sunday afternoon.
At the moment.
