From www.mmaweekly.com

The Team Quest website and MMA Weekly.com caught up with "The Natural", Randy Couture yesterday during the district wrestling meet at Centennial High School, which is sthe school Couture assists in coaching in Gresham, Oregon.

MMAWeekly asked Randy about how he was planning for the rematch against Vitor Belfort, and we were surprised to learn that as of now there is NO rematch and it doesn't look like it's happening.

Couture told MMAWeekly that he has heard that Belfort is not interested in fighting him a third time. Couture needless to say is frustrated as he was planning on fighting Belfort in June at UFC 48.

The video interview is up right now on the SoundOff Forum at MMAWeekly.com. Belfort a few weeks ago said he wanted a no-contest ruling. We will try to get Couture on the radio show this week with the latest about the situation, but as of last night it doesn't look good regarding a rematch

Nope, Belfort is doing the right thing. He is not ducking Couture but rather trying to get a shot at making ufc better than pride. By trying to fight Silva. Right now, if they have a Couture vs. Belfort rematch, they would get paid so and so. If Vitor fights silva now and wins, the couture vs belfort rematch would have alot more money for that fight! Good move Vitor!!!

I just want to see Silva vs Belfort 2

but it will NEVER happen. Silva will be HW by the time the UFC is ready to merge the titles

I'm sure a rematch will happen. However, I really want to see Vitor vs Tito which is a fight that never happened, but should have.

Randy would beat anyone at 205 lbs and Vitor knows this. I think it's a travesty that Vitor won't fight him just because he knows he'll lose the rematch. Vitor should step up and return the courtesy that Randy extended him and fight. Then Randy can beat Silva, unify the titles and retire as a living legend like he deserves.

Vitor will not lose in a rematch against Randy and Vitor knows this! He is extending the courtesy by not fighting Randy at this time. After Vitor beats Silva then he would fight Randy so Randy can make more money. Then Randy can retire after Vitor beats the living legend.

The UFC doesn't want Vitor to fight Randy. They have never wanted Randy as a champ because he isn't marketable to the general public. They just see an old man on the verge of retirement.

I dont care what Vitors motive for not fighting randy is!!!!! He owes Randy the rematch now. And i dont see randy going anywhere for awhile. The guy is in great shape and he looks 20 years old except for the balding on the top of the head. He could fight till hes 45 maybe 50 who knows only randy. Give randy his shot and if he loses then go from there.

I thought Vitor wasn't under contract with the UFC despite Dana White saying that he was. Now Vitor is holding out for the big pay day or a fight with Wanderlei

Vitor has more important things to worry about at the moment than the UFC. Let's just wait and see what the future holds....

I just ate some really ****ty two-item combo from Panda Express. No Belfort vs. Couture III sucks even worse.

Please, a Vitor Couture III fight would be huge. A great payday for Vitor

Read the Boxing Insider interview with Vitor that Curly posted. Vitor clearly states that he will give Randy a rematch or do whatever the UFC wants him to do. However a fight with Silva would be priority for him if it were to come up.

In other words:
Vitor will give Randy a rematch.
Silva fight is more important to him.

Think about it. Silva x Belfort II would be alot more exciting than Couture x Belfort III.

Why? Watch the Couture x Tito again and you'll know why.

I hope you're right but I doubt it. I think Vitor will put Randy off indefinately if he can. Also, the prospect of UFC and Pride unifiying the title seems far off in the future at best. Vitor vs. Silva may be a good fight but it doesn't mean Vitor deserves to be the UFC LHW champion, this fight could happen, maybe faster, if Vitor wasn't the champion.

I sure Silva wants some revenge, so who knows. It may happen sooner rather than later. I never thought we would see Ricco vs Nog, but it happen(although it sucked). Let's just wait and see.

Neither Ricco or Nog were champion though, UFC and Pride had little to lose on that one.
