Michael Buffer and his trademark "Let's Get Ready to RumbleŽ" phrase have been an integral part of many major sports events internationally such as Boxing, the NFL, the NBA, MLB, the NHL and most all other professional sports along with licensed products such as video games, toys, movies, television and various other products, events and business ventures worldwide. Now it's time for his own professional football
team.

A formal press conference was held February 5th in El Paso, Texas
where Michael Buffer appeared along with his partner and manager, Bruce Buffer, to unveil their latest exciting venture, the "El Paso Rumble" Intense Football League team. The IFL has contracted with The Buffer Partnership to create the El Paso Rumble franchise representing the El Paso sports market which serves a large base of sports and football fans. Approximately
59,000 fans paid to attend the Oscar de La Hoya fight promoted there in 1998.
Michael Buffer will also serve as the spokesman for the team. "I
think it's great and it's very exciting," Buffer said when asked how it felt to have a professional sports franchise named after him. "El Paso is a very sports oriented community. I've been here three times for boxing, including the Oscar De La Hoya fight in 1998, and its a very sports supportive town."

The new IFL is comprised completely of Texas teams: Amarillo, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Lubbock, Odessa and San Angelo. Teams will be composed mainly of area players. A 16 game schedule is planned from May-September. Many of the players will be ex-NFL and top Collegiate players who see this as a stepping stone to being noticed by the NFL, as was the case with Kurt Warner of the St. Louis Rams. The El Paso Rumble begins play in the new Intense Football League (IFL) on May 8, when they visit the Amarillo Dusters. The team plays its first home game of the season on May 22, when the El Paso Rumble plays host to the Odessa Roughnecks at the El Paso County Coliseum.
