I bought a brand new house in 11/01, and the pile of **** is crumbling before my very eyes. A water pipe in the master bathroom is leaking, and there are water stains on my living room ceiling. My downstairs furnace is not working for some unknown reason, and my clan and I are freezing balls. Now I've got to shell out all the dough to get this **** fixed because my 2 year unlimited warranty ended last November. I should've stayed in an apartment.

Fix it yourself.
Is it gas or electric?

My neighbor used to live in a trailer. They had to pop start theirs every year.

My heat upstairs is working, but not downstairs. I have no idea why, or what to look for.

I just went outside and checked it out. I think it's gas. It looks like it's working, there's 2 flames in it. I can feel a little heat, but not much coming from the vents.

Feel proud. This description is more than I would have ever been able to give. I don't even know where to look for a flame. I don't think I have ever really looked at a furnace before for more than 2 seconds as I walk by it.

You built a new home and got a two year warranty on it!?

Wow, I just checked and that's pretty much standard. You plan to pay on a home for 30 years and major things like heating and cooling systems only get covered for the first two.

Yeah, ripoff, isn't it? They then sell you a warranty and BAM! that's how they get even richer! We bought a warranty when we bought our home and it was 18 yrs old already......it paid for itself when the stove went out. They're new.....I deserve it after I ruined two Holiday dinners because of that damn stove. And because it was a stove/microwave unit, they had to replace both!! yay!:lol1:
