View Full Version : Saints Row 2 Mersey 02-12-2009, 02:09 PM Has anybody played this? How does it compare to GTA 4? Don Corleone 02-12-2009, 04:55 PM It's awful. It's a terrible GTA IV rip-off and they use and imitate so much of GTA's features into their game. I didn't enjoy it at all. I wasn't too impressed with GTA IV since it was good but it got boring but on any level, it beats Saints Row 2 all day. The only feature I can really say I like of SR2 is the "cruise control". I give it a 70%... The Golden Boy 02-12-2009, 07:07 PM It owns GTAIV. GTA was boring and took itself way to seriously. the graphics and city in GTA are better than SRII but overall SR is much more fun. its kinda like San Andreas with all the little cool side features and missions you can do. great game, def cop it if you can!!! Equilibrium 02-12-2009, 07:17 PM I don't know about the consoles, but i bought it on pc and it's garbage. I have a top of the line gaming pc and it performs like ****. Plus the ****ty animations, aiming and the driving mechanics are a joke. Uninstalled that **** from my hard drive in 2 hours. Cheap ass GTA ripoff if you ask me. That's a great review for that game. You kept it short and sweet Flab 02-12-2009, 08:13 PM 1 word: AWESOME! So much fun. Clegg 02-12-2009, 09:03 PM I prefer it to GTA4. Mersey 02-13-2009, 08:25 AM So it's more like GTA SA than GTA 4 is? ALT=_=Assassin 02-13-2009, 10:00 AM It's awful. Trippy 02-13-2009, 02:27 PM If you like whacky, funny, do what you want gameplay like GTA San Andreas then go for Saints Row 2. If you want a depressing, serious, repetitive game then go for GTA4. GTA4 has better game mechanics but it's far too serious. Saints Row 2 in one word = FUN. There's so many side missions to do, all of them are fun, so much customisation. People over-estimate realism. Saints Row 2 isn't realiatic, but it's fun, you can be who you want to be. Watch this video review (this guy doesn't credit many games): http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/312-Saints-Row-2 Don Corleone 02-13-2009, 02:38 PM Didn't SR one come out before GTA4? I thought that was the first open world game to go next gen? If that is the case than I don't know how you can call it a rip off. Umm...we're talking about SR 2. Not the first one. The second one came much after GTA IV. Therefore, it's a GTA IV rip-off Trippy 02-13-2009, 02:40 PM Umm...we're talking about SR 2. Not the first one. The second one came much after GTA IV. Therefore, it's a GTA IV rip-off GTA IV ripped off the mobile phone being accessible to the player, which was in Saints Row 1. Don Corleone 02-13-2009, 02:43 PM GTA IV ripped off the mobile phone being accessible to the player, which was in Saints Row 1. I won't even begin to comment on how much Saints Row coped from the GTA series. It's quite evident. Do you really like it more than GTA IV? Clegg 02-13-2009, 02:48 PM Umm...we're talking about SR 2. Not the first one. The second one came much after GTA IV. Therefore, it's a GTA IV rip-off You're claiming that Saints Row 2 had more in common with GTA4 than it did with Saints Row 1? Don Corleone 02-13-2009, 02:56 PM You're claiming that Saints Row 2 had more in common with GTA4 than it did with Saints Row 1? Well technically I wouldn't be able to comment on Saints Row 1 since I haven't played it. All I'm saying is the entire Saints Row series from what I've seen is a GTA rip-off. That's my opinion. There are many games that are GTA rip-offs and SR happens to be one of em... Trippy 02-13-2009, 03:08 PM And the 3D GTA games are a rip off of Driver! Just because it's a rip off it doesn't mean it's bad. You're no different to the GTA fanboys on all the other boards. GTA's a good game but my fondness for the GTA series isn't going to cloud my judgement on Saints Row 2 which is a fun game. ALT=_=Assassin 02-13-2009, 03:14 PM You're claiming that Saints Row 2 had more in common with GTA4 than it did with Saints Row 1? Bingo....... It's not like they reinvented the game from the first one. Don Corleone 02-13-2009, 03:20 PM And the 3D GTA games are a rip off of Driver! Just because it's a rip off it doesn't mean it's bad. You're no different to the GTA fanboys on all the other boards. GTA's a good game but my fondness for the GTA series isn't going to cloud my judgement on Saints Row 2 which is a fun game. 3D GTA games are a rip-off of Driver? I'm not sure you play video games my friend. But on a different subject, a "rip-off" GTA game can still be considered good. It just means that Saints Row copied from GTA or they have many features that are very similar. That's all. Most GTA fans that have played all of them starting from one, will not accept any GTA models or look-alikes as better or on the same level. It's all based on perceptions but I just don't see how Saints Row 2 or the entire Saints row series can match up to Gta's. But theres nothing wrong with liking Saints Row 2. I just happen not to enjoy it that much...that's all... Mersey 02-13-2009, 05:52 PM I'm gonna go rent SR2 if its like GTA SA. I got bored of GTA 4 too quickly. I wanna do the good old wacky stuff like the old GTA games. Thanks for the help ppl popkins99 02-15-2009, 05:43 AM i hated the multi ethnic gangs... the **** was that about lol. :puke: msagrain 02-15-2009, 08:07 AM Its better than gta4. Its alot more fun and load more things to do. It's like how the old gtas were. Equilibrium 02-15-2009, 06:09 PM You guys are smoking crack, saints row is just a cheap ass ripoff of the GTA franchise, plus it does everything worst. When you run it feels like your character ist just sliding over the ground. It could be fun for some mindless fun but it's cheap as ****, everything from the graphics to the voice acting reeks b grade production. Clegg 02-15-2009, 06:28 PM After San Andreas, it seems as if the GTA series decided to be a bit more 'gritty' and realistic, whereas the guys ripping them off decided to go in the direction of colourful graphics and fun without too much seriousness. Different people prefer different things. GTA4 just wasn't what I was hoping for, but to each his own and all that. Different people prefer different things. GTA4 just wasn't what I was hoping for, but to each his own and all that. I put in Saints Row 2 yesterday to play some online multiplayer. I felt I wasn't giving the game a chance. To be quite honest, within five minutes I was so frustrated with the graphics, gameplay and the character controls that I quickly took it out. I don't know what people see in that game but I don't know how anyone compares it to San Andreas. GTA IV I can understand because even though it had beautiful graphics, some people found it boring. But I feel that San Andreas (and GTA IV) are on another level. And like I previously said, if someone has played all of the GTA games and are longtime fans, they'll find it really hard to enjoy this game. But I guess every prefers something different... Clegg 02-15-2009, 07:08 PM Well I've been playing GTA since the very first one. The series has gone away from a lot of things that I liked. As I was saying re: Resident Evil 5, I think that the likes of RE and GTA were great because they had lots of new ideas and they brought in things that had never been done before in a game. However, the rest of the gaming world has moved on, and now GTA4 is just another sandbox game, and RE is just another 3rd person shooter. I don't play online much, so I can't make much comparison there. Neither GTA4 or SR2 are good online IMO, but like I say...I'm not much of an online gamer. It's just a matter of taste. Some of my favourite gamer are from the mid 1990s because they have things that modern games lack. Same with SR2 and GTA4. You're just a GTA fan boy. GTA 4 was ****. I hated being some ugly fat Serb and there was 0 customizations, plus the story line was ****. You keep comparing GTA: SA with GTA 4 when they are NOTHING alike. And how you got "frustrated" with the gameplay and character controls is beyond me, you must be a retard. A two year old could pick up and play SR2. Flab 02-16-2009, 07:37 AM http://www.destructoid.com/ten-reasons-why-saints-row-2-is-better-than-grand-theft-auto-iv-109687.phtml Enough said. It could be fun for some mindless fun but it's cheap as ****, everything from the graphics to the voice acting reeks b grade production. That is exactly what the GTA franchise is known for but it left that behind and went for a more realistic, less fun/addictive gameplay which leaves me looking for more. Saints Row may be similar to the original GTA games but that is what makes it better than GTA4. . Flab 02-16-2009, 09:06 AM played the first one at a friends house ages ago, some fun ****, i liked robbing the stores SR2 is 10 times better than 1. Seems like you're the fan boy. The entire game play and controls were a fuccking mess. It's a disgrace to compare it to any of the GTA's. I'd compare it more to the Crazy Taxi game. I already mentioned that GTA IV might've had stunning graphics but got boring after a while but San Andreas was the greatest of all the GTA's and SR2 doesn't even compare to it... Since when do you shoot people in Crazy Taxi? Flab 02-16-2009, 09:47 PM I stayed away from SR2 for a long time, because I listened to fan boys like Mosley123. Don't make the same mistake I made. Don Corleone 02-16-2009, 11:15 PM I stayed away from SR2 for a long time, because I listened to fan boys like Mosley123. Don't make the same mistake I made. So anyone who doesn't enjoy SR2 is a fan boy of GTA? You're joking right? I happen not to like SR 2. You make it seem as if we all have to like that game or something for us not to be fan boys. You're the biggest fan boy of SR. Look how defensive you got when I told you I don't like that game...relax it's only a game. Trippy 02-18-2009, 05:42 PM After reading that I seriously have to get SR2. The side activities and the customisation along with the funny script and ****ney accent are what make Sr2 head and shoulders above GTA4/ GTA has 100000x better production values but what it has to show for it is a game that's far too up its own arse, which is trying to become more and more a real life sim. Saints Row 2 knows what it is, 'it is fully aware that most gamers are dickheads and if you give them any sort of power their first instinct will to be abuse it'. |
