Has anybody played this? How does it compare to GTA 4?

It's awful. It's a terrible GTA IV rip-off and they use and imitate so much of GTA's features into their game. I didn't enjoy it at all. I wasn't too impressed with GTA IV since it was good but it got boring but on any level, it beats Saints Row 2 all day. The only feature I can really say I like of SR2 is the "cruise control". I give it a 70%...

It owns GTAIV. GTA was boring and took itself way to seriously. the graphics and city in GTA are better than SRII but overall SR is much more fun. its kinda like San Andreas with all the little cool side features and missions you can do. great game, def cop it if you can!!!

I don't know about the consoles, but i bought it on pc and it's garbage. I have a top of the line gaming pc and it performs like ****. Plus the ****ty animations, aiming and the driving mechanics are a joke. Uninstalled that **** from my hard drive in 2 hours.

Didn't SR one come out before GTA4? I thought that was the first open world game to go next gen? If that is the case than I don't know how you can call it a rip off.

If you like whacky, funny, do what you want gameplay like GTA San Andreas then go for Saints Row 2.


If you want a depressing, serious, repetitive game then go for GTA4.

GTA4 has better game mechanics but it's far too serious.

Saints Row 2 in one word = FUN.

There's so many side missions to do, all of them are fun, so much customisation. People over-estimate realism. Saints Row 2 isn't realiatic, but it's fun, you can be who you want to be.

But on a different subject, a "rip-off" GTA game can still be considered good. It just means that Saints Row copied from GTA or they have many features that are very similar. That's all. Most GTA fans that have played all of them starting from one, will not accept any GTA models or look-alikes as better or on the same level. It's all based on perceptions but I just don't see how Saints Row 2 or the entire Saints row series can match up to Gta's. But theres nothing wrong with liking Saints Row 2. I just happen not to enjoy it that much...that's all...

I'm gonna go rent SR2 if its like GTA SA. I got bored of GTA 4 too quickly. I wanna do the good old wacky stuff like the old GTA games.

It could be fun for some mindless fun but it's cheap as ****, everything from the graphics to the voice acting reeks b grade production.

After San Andreas, it seems as if the GTA series decided to be a bit more 'gritty' and realistic, whereas the guys ripping them off decided to go in the direction of colourful graphics and fun without too much seriousness.

I put in Saints Row 2 yesterday to play some online multiplayer. I felt I wasn't giving the game a chance. To be quite honest, within five minutes I was so frustrated with the graphics, gameplay and the character controls that I quickly took it out. I don't know what people see in that game but I don't know how anyone compares it to San Andreas. GTA IV I can understand because even though it had beautiful graphics, some people found it boring. But I feel that San Andreas (and GTA IV) are on another level. And like I previously said, if someone has played all of the GTA games and are longtime fans, they'll find it really hard to enjoy this game. But I guess every prefers something different...

Well I've been playing GTA since the very first one. The series has gone away from a lot of things that I liked.

As I was saying re: Resident Evil 5, I think that the likes of RE and GTA were great because they had lots of new ideas and they brought in things that had never been done before in a game. However, the rest of the gaming world has moved on, and now GTA4 is just another sandbox game, and RE is just another 3rd person shooter.

I don't play online much, so I can't make much comparison there. Neither GTA4 or SR2 are good online IMO, but like I say...I'm not much of an online gamer.

It's just a matter of taste. Some of my favourite gamer are from the mid 1990s because they have things that modern games lack. Same with SR2 and GTA4.

That is exactly what the GTA franchise is known for but it left that behind and went for a more realistic, less fun/addictive gameplay which leaves me looking for more. Saints Row may be similar to the original GTA games but that is what makes it better than GTA4. .

So anyone who doesn't enjoy SR2 is a fan boy of GTA? You're joking right? I happen not to like SR 2. You make it seem as if we all have to like that game or something for us not to be fan boys. You're the biggest fan boy of SR. Look how defensive you got when I told you I don't like that game...relax it's only a game.

The side activities and the customisation along with the funny script and ****ney accent are what make Sr2 head and shoulders above GTA4/ GTA has 100000x better production values but what it has to show for it is a game that's far too up its own arse, which is trying to become more and more a real life sim.


Saints Row 2 knows what it is, 'it is fully aware that most gamers are dickheads and if you give them any sort of power their first instinct will to be abuse it'.
