So ask us a question rather than making a statement. What's bothering you? What's been on your mind lately that is weighing you down?

School is over rated.

I hate school
I hate putting time, effort, and money into something I hate and I find no use for.
Everyday the thought of this bothers me.
I just want to do Martial Arts - I have a future in it.
I learned way more in martial arts than I have in college.

Then why don't you quit school? It's your life isn't it, or is it? You should be happy and follow what your heart is leading you to do. What's stopping you?

my family will flip out if I quit
and my MA instructor wants me to finish school

Also i am afraid that if I were to injure myself badly and I could not do MA anymore, I would need something to fall back on.

It is just something I have got to deal with - I guess a little over 2 more years of being miserable aint so bad

So if you have no choice with it, and you have to deal with it until you finish… what do you get out of complaining about it since it gets you nowhere? Just like you hate working out in the gym all the time because it helps with martial arts, go to school for the victories you will earn later on in the work force. Stop *****ing about things you can't change. Anything else on your mind?

also I do not think I want to hang out with my friends anymore-
i have been trying real hard to keep myself on the right path and they do not really see things the same way I do and I do not want to really spend my time with them.
And talking to my ex kind of made me feel like crap but I feel better today.

Good question

I know, I can maybe help change alot of the kids I teach and hopefully help them become better people, but i only get each kid 2 hours out of a week.

I would like to do something good, but I do not know what?

You have any good ideas matt?

You definitely have your heart in the right place. My suggestion is to finish school first so you can have more time to dedicate to kids. Find out if there are any programs in your city to help kids and latch on to one of those or see about starting one of your own. But finish school first, in the long run, you'll be better off for it because more people will take you seriously with a degree in your hand. It opens doors for you. Latching onto one already in motion might help you with a lot of the management experience. It's always good to go in and see how it's done elsewhere to avoid pitfalls in yours.

Well if you’re serious about wanting to help people out, why not volunteer your time in one of the programs that your local church provides? There’s after school programs, counseling, you could also volunteer at the local hospital and just talk to old patients that need some company. It depends on what you’re willing to do and how far you are willing to sacrifice your time for the better of others, but it’s different for everyone.

An example for you is what I’m doing, (not saying you have to go as far as me though, lol, but you get the idea). I’m helping my friend who’s a pastor, with his high-school Wednesday night bible study. Makes me feel better to be there for the kids and take a load off of his responsibilities by giving him a hand. I’m also training to become a pastor for the Salvation Army so I can work full-time in order to help others, but you don’t have to become a pastor in order to help people. It’s whatever you in your heart, are truly lead to do.

Since you train kids in martial arts for two hours a week I would suggest that you not automatically write it off as an “it’s not enough time” excuse. Take advantage of those two hours, you can actually work a great deal with a child even if it’s for only one hour a week. The harder you try, the better you’ll feel at the end of the day. If you work as hard as you can to help others, what will come back to you will be two-fold, I’m sure you’ve heard that before but it’s true. A sense of pride and accomplishment achieved through the heart will yield greater rewards that if it’s achieved through anything else.
