From classic east coast to g-funk laced west coast.. It's really remarkable how where you live and what you grew up on can form such a distinct sound. I mean even from city to city you have such different sounds that use the basic element of hip hop music to their advantage. I grew up in New Jersey so I have a heavy influence of that east coast sound but I really digg others a lot if not equally also..

I have to lay it to G- Funk era material, Warren G is one of my favorite producers and of course Quik and Dre are fantastic. Even some Daz solo material is dope. Plus no one can rock a hook like Nate Dogg.

That texas/ UGK style of music. Just that laid back guitar layed melody over tight keys and slowed down to a nice relaxing tempo. I have to say this branch of hip hop is so ****ing dope to me.

i like a soulful sound to my hip hop, like that sound Pete Rock and Dilla do so well. i love jazzy instrumental samples and melodic riffs and loops that just take you away with them. samples that really make you feel something. and i love that grimey grimey dirrrrrty sound. Madlib does it so well. that rugged and raw. that screwface type sound. heavy use of instruments though make all the difference. i don't like that techy electro type sounding **** that is starting to get popular. that's the only negative thing i can say about Black Milk is that sometimes he gets a bit too mechanical for me, a bit too synthey, i don't really know how to say it...i like to really hear that my hip hop has been influenced by jazz and blues and classic rock. that's how i think it should be so that is how it is most pleasing to my ear.

I actually kinda digg the electro side of it to. Maybe because I listen to some electronic music.

I have to say when I was in Florida over the summer I found myself listening to that Rick Ross album. He may not be the best mc but that sound actually bled Florida and was kinda nice crusining to.
