Truth 02-01-2009, 08:35 PM Say what you want about him, hes a real rapper. Em has serious rap skills...
Heres what the guy that many of you call the greatest said...Rakim...

Floyd Sinclair 02-01-2009, 08:38 PM Top 15 but I respect him as high as the 5th best mc. Lyrically he sh!ts all over most rappers.
Truth 02-01-2009, 08:43 PM I think top 15 is reasonable. its not even his albums that put him there. its his skills, he is a skilled mc.
MR. V 02-01-2009, 08:50 PM Top 15 but I respect him as high as the 5th best mc. Lyrically he sh!ts all over most rappers. totally fukinm agree. Em's words are far deeper than some bull**** rhyme scheme. the mann can rap not to mention run circles round any rapper out ther now. I rank him n top 10, ez.
Truth 02-01-2009, 08:52 PM I wish em would get back to rapping serious though. Songs like till i collapse were great
neils7147933 02-01-2009, 09:38 PM Depending on the criteria, his position varies
But he's in the top half dozen ever
MegStarr* 02-02-2009, 12:17 AM k real talk though guys...
your POTENTIAL does NOT determine your greatness.
he has shown us some **** that puts him up there with the bosses. but i feel like people continue to make excuses for him over and over again. when he spits to his full potential he is bananas, but more often than not nowadays, he doesn't, and he has sold out ENOUGH times. so yeah. dude is sick with it. but he is a true Gemini of hip hop, regardless of when his birthday is. 2 personalities with 2 different standards, one of which i can CERTAINLY do without.

hes versitale.
I've heard him do political songs like mosh, I've heard him do deep songs like mockingbird and halie's song. hes done hard songs like soldier. Hes done fun songs, hes done all the kind of songs you can think of it.
hes a great lyricist. is he always great? No. On Encore he was slacking. But infinite, mmlp, eminem show and slim shady lp were solid to great.
the fact that rakim thinks hes nice says alot.
Truth 02-02-2009, 12:24 AM you really can't blame rappers for making a sell out type of single. they want to sell records and make money. I don't always like it, but its part of the record buisness.

i agree to an extent
but at the same time, you have to keep it to a minimum. you gather your fan base and you move on from that. i want him to meet me at least half way. this next album is going to speak volumes about Em. im looking forward to it.

this is one of eminem's best songs, I think.

Well like I said depending on the song. I don't always like it either. I didn't like Encore overall. But it had its moments like mockingbird and a few others were good.

a Great shouldn't be dropping albums with "moments".
again though, i am very interested to see what he brings on his new album.

Name one great where every album is a classic? Even Nas has albums that wern't 5 mic albums. No one is perfect.
I don't know what to expect from his latest album. hes 36 years old, his best/closest friend was murdered...hes been in and out of rehab. I think hes had really tough time over the last few years, at one point I started to feel bad for him because I kept hearing terrible stories about how he was hitting rockbottom.
I hope its a good album. But to me hes already done alot in rap.

I don't think every album needs to be a classic. no way. not saying that at all.
he can channel that negative energy into a sick album. he needs to. i think his fans need him to too.

I agree. and for the record. Although I don't agree with all your opinions about em....i respect them fo sho

yeah man, real talk
i got nothing but love for all you boys in here. seriously. i so rarely have face to face conversations in my life that stimulate me in the same manner that these do. i don't have the opportunity unfortunately of being close with very many people that are passionate about hip hop and who volunteer to have lengthy and in depth discussions about it.

Truth 02-02-2009, 12:54 AM I wish I could meet a girl that likes rap in real life, but most girls I know hate rap.
Truth 02-02-2009, 12:55 AM megstarr if you only lived in connecticut we'd be married :D
you'd be changin your name megtruthstarr lol
MegStarr* 02-02-2009, 01:05 AM don't be discouraged there are plenty of girls around who are down with real hip hop. i don't know many who are passionate about it but i am sure they're out there. go to shows. you can find them there i'm sure, unless their mans brought them and they really don't know ****. which is somewhat common. but shows are a great place to meet people. you already have a common interest!
and Truth, you've never seen me. let's not jump to THAT conclusion. haha.

Killa Cam 02-02-2009, 01:52 AM Let's see....he's got two classic albums, two mediocre ones and an awful one.
When it comes to his technical ability to rap, put multi's, words (vocabulary wise), etc. together, he's a top 10 rapper easily.
However, the content on argueably his best two albums are for 13-16 year olds, repetative and childish...I can't listen to most of SSLP or MMLP's anymore, all I can say is I grew out of them.
Overall, I'd say he would rank somewhere between 15-20, after taking into effect the amount of work he's done.
Truth 02-02-2009, 01:53 AM cam what song was that deala thing from? that was dope.

Easily my favorite Kanye track of all time, Gone (off of Late Registration). All four verses are nice, Consequence's in particular. The beat is laced well and the bassline is ridiculous.

Truth 02-02-2009, 01:59 AM Thanks Cam.
oldgringo 02-02-2009, 02:24 AM Top 50. Safe but whatever....
MegStarr* 02-03-2009, 02:16 AM Top 50. Safe but whatever....
better safe then sorry, my friend.
Killa Cam 02-04-2009, 01:45 AM Thanks Cam.
No problem
Eric Holder 02-04-2009, 01:57 AM eminem is at his best whens hes being serious and not being goofy.
I agree
at first I wrote him off because of his singles and I thought he was overhyped and corny
but I went back and listened to the Eminem Show and MMLP  when he's actually rapping about serious stuff he's amazing
Sir Tom Jones 02-04-2009, 08:18 AM i like rabbit run by em. he ****s all over most rappers because he can rap about stuff that is not all the cliched topics in rap/
Enemy/Friend 02-04-2009, 08:47 AM i like rabbit run by em. he ****s all over most rappers because he can rap about stuff that is not all the cliched topics in rap/
Great track, he didn't even need a hook or chorus to completely dominate the beat. If this type of skill doesn't get him ranked with the best, I don't know what will.

8 mile is one of his underrated albums, with tracks like Lose yourself, Rabbit Run and 8 mile road....
black.ink 02-04-2009, 01:49 PM I would struggle making a top 10 without the inclusion of Eminem. Top 10 seems reasonable with me.
The Fix 02-04-2009, 05:59 PM i stopped the video after he mentioned face, so i could blast smile.
FLY TY 02-04-2009, 06:32 PM hard to rank 'em cuz he aint done yet.....he got skills, but i'm waiting on that "classic" album from him....
as of now, most of his **** has been for entertainment purposes, i'm waiting on some real **** from em.
Two Clips 02-04-2009, 06:34 PM Top 5 for sure.
Texasboy34 02-04-2009, 07:20 PM Top 5 Emcee easily IMO and here is why:
Had 2 albums I'd consider classics MMLP & Em Show. Aside from Encore all his albums had been solid. Every rapper is due a couple of duds. Hell Nas and Jay Z have tossed up at least 2 a piece.
Has sold 50 million albums world wide... Who is really touching that?
Always tends to outshine the people who are on his tracks & vice versa (see Jay Z Renegade & Game We Aint Goin Nowhere)
He is a pretty good producer in his own right. I thought his work on Obie's first album was NICE.
He was the 1st rapper to win an Oscar with that Lose Yourself track.
The guy will eat people up in a freestyle battle rap type ****, and is a studio rat.
Who else is doin this type of ****? I'd say just based on that alone dude is top 5.
