View Full Version : Heart and priorities.

I was driving in to work this morning and listening to 105.1, my favorite classical music station here in L.A. because it leaves me to ponder my own thoughts, yet subdues them to a relaxation state and leaves me only with my true emotions and heart; most of which dwindle within prayer. I began to realize how little people in this world are in touch with their own heart. Words that describe the heart that we so little have touch with include humbleness, forgiveness, perseverance, inner drive, faithfulness, spiritual growth, and even sacrifice.

Instead of giving in to the growth of our heart we look at other void fillers like working out, success in the corporate word, winning a match in sports, ****ography, violence, video games; anything that can separate your heart from your daily life and can eventually numb your actions of ever again being in touch with your heart. Now I know some of you might think, “sure, I have heart… the stats in my sport will prove that.” Or “sure, I have heart… the success at my job will prove that.” That’s not the heart I’m talking about. I’m talking about the true spiritual heart that really matters that can lead us closer to God through his teachings, and applying them to our everyday life first.

If you focus on that kind of heart, everything else will have its volume turned down a notch as you put things in perspective. But maybe you don’t want to get in touch with the kind of spiritual heart I’m talking about as most people these days don’t. For that I am sorry that you are afraid of what that might lead to in your life.

True happiness is only given to those who are first at peace with God and their own heart. Everything else that this world provides is only temporary and will fade away as time progresses, most likely you’ll live to see that what you gain on this earth fades away as you mature and get older, and realize that all earthly accomplishments and gain ultimately mean nothing.

All happiness that comes from the absence of God will fade; but that which is done through God and for God will lead to a happiness and contentment that will never fade away.

you should become ordained and devote your life to the cloth, since you are into the religious thing so much bro :)

Way ahead of you man, lol. But really, I honestly believe what I wrote above. If people just took that in to consideration a little bit, we would be able to live a more pleasing life.

I commend your attempt to detour your own realization of what I said above with an immature rebuttal. But I hope that you’ll think about it a little bit; at least I was able to put it in your head for a little while. I’m waiting to hear Purity’s positive or negative influence on this topic of putting God first above all. We always hear to “put God first,” but we never really give it any thought because it’s so basic and fundamental to the Christian religion. But if you actually think about it and realize what exactly it means, it’s pretty profound. And as soon as you do apply it to your every day life and thought process, you’ll notice an exceptional positive love that will most definitely put everything in the proper perspective.

So the question that I have for EVERYONE here is:

What are your excuses for not turning your thoughts inward and giving everything to God FIRST? Now I know that a lot of you don’t believe in God, so I ask those of you who don’t believe in God why you are consuming your mind and daily life with ultimately pointless goals that occupy everything that you are, instead of focusing on being a good person and leading a spiritual life? What are you afraid of?

I know a lot of you won’t even answer this question because this is a testosterone filled bored for fighting and you're afraid of how others will view you, so for you all that I ask is to think of that question and to think of the answer; but I’d love to hear all of your views on this topic.

Wushu, You have nothing to prove by what you’ve done in the past with the church, or even what you are planning to do. God looks at our actions and why we do them, that’s true; but first he looks at our heart. Outside of the actions you do at the church, outside of the mass you attend every Sunday, how do you act and feel? What’s your heart like when someone curses at you in the middle of the week? How do you conduct yourself at work? How do you conduct yourself around your friends? What are you doing to spread the word of God on a daily basis? Etc…. bottom line, I wasn’t asking about your actions, or how many masses you attend, all I’m concerned and asking about is your heart.

Don't get me wrong, I do get pissed at people...I'm human. As far as spreading the word of God, I invite toher Catholics I know to attend mass with my wife and I. We actually attend mass with like 3-4 of my co-workers.

I hear you mouse, I used to think the way that i had to have all this **** an material to be happy and I was more unhappy then than I am now. I am actually following my heart, not giving into my material wants since I ignored what I really needed for so long.

since I ignored what I really needed for so long

And what does this mean to you? Is what you needed for so long abiding love? Was it the feeling of being a part of something bigger that lasted for eternity rather than temporarily?

And also I’m wondering how you came to the awesome conclusion that material things and temporary success meant nothing to your spirit and heart in the long run?

I'm sorry for your need for Christian influence over at "ironlife." But the only fighting forum that I will ever post on will be Globalmma. Now get out of my thread unless you have anything productive to say.

I just used to believe that I was the only one that mattered, and despite me giving to other people I didnt realize that I do need someone in my life. It was just material satisfaction I was getting but once I obtained it it would go away, and I would move on to the next. I basically came to this conclusion when i got assaulted, it made me open my eyes and realize life isnt promised, and if you ignore the important things you are missing out big time, and while the important things are harder to work for and obtain, and have more ups and downs, they make you a better person and a happer person.
