my daughter had a friend spend the night. She's 18 and was too tired to drive home last night. I have no problem with that, it shows responsibility in my book. Her mom called and left a message on my machine saying she didn't want her to stay. I called her and got no answer. My daughter wanted me to drive her home, but I was too tired myself to drive, so I said no, she was better off staying here for the night. About an hour after I called her, the other mom called me and chewed me out for "interfering".

I told her that I made a judgement call for the safety of her daughter. She wouldn't even listen to me. She asked for my address and directions on how to get here so she could pick her up so I gave them to her. When she got here, her husband came to the door and I got their daughter. She didn't want to go home and told her step father so. After some arguement with her he entered my house and grabbed her. My dad got up and called the police, and I went outside to try and calm them down. After some calm moments of talking and then heated moments, the mother came up (she had been in the car) and grabbed her daughter by the arm. I stepped inbetween them and stood my ground of them not forcing her to go anywhere. She is 18. The mother was in front of me and the father was behind me. The mother then grabbed my arm and was pulling me down the walk away from my house. I had turned to watch my back and the woman would not let go so I turned and karate chopped her hand/wrist to get her to let go of me. It worked (remember, I have NO training in MA) She accused me of assaulting HER! HA!

Needless to say the cops showed up...said she's 18 and can do what she wants and her parents asked for and got the house keys and took her car and left. I ended up slightly bruised and some torn skin, but otherwise just shaken. Hubby showed up shortly after the police left and then after telling him the story, tells me he wants me to take Krav Maga now.

I now have another "child" to watch over. It wasn't my intention, but life happens. She's a good kid and unfortunately, her parents were extremely unreasonable. I do hope that after they've calmed down that they and their daughter can talk like adults.

Life has no room for people like that. Kill them.

Adults that act like children, un-rational and fast to resort to force. We see it all too often don’t we?

Unfortunately, yes. Most of the teenagers I know are more likely to act like adults than most adults. This young lady has never been a problem and is always welcome in my house. She wants to finish high school, (only a few months left) and move on with her life.
