3) If Rooster's asking for the last title fight under LPR rules (bareknuckle) that would be the Sullivan-Kilrain fight from 1889. There were plenty of LPR fights taking place after that, though, and in fact, there's still unsanctioned bareknuckle bouts taking place to this day using those old rules.

5) Fitz-Corbett was the first filmed heavyweight championship fight.

** Ahhh, nothing like sanctioned and unsanctioned notions of the glory days of yore and gore for my soft modern mind to chew on.

As far as I can tell from Bob Mee's Bare Fists, the first King George seems to have been the first "sanctioner" of "modern" prize fights of sorts, pre London Prize Ring Rules and Broughton's Rules, when he starts showing up for these early dustups. No official pronouncements were needed, just unofficial royal patronage that kept the local constabulary at bay.

I prefer to think prize fighting as the origins of early democracy in action as it was popular opinion that gave these early champs their status. That "ruffians" could organize over time and agree upon rudimentary rules is proof of at least some honour existing among the populace, at least more than exists amongst today's politicians.

Hollywood and film historians have too long ignored the early contributions prize fighting gave to their industry. I grew up thinking Birth of a Nation was the beginnings of the film industry, never dreaming the earliest dramas were played out in the ring and watched by millions of theater goers in the day. Johnson/Jeffries had to have the earliest "censored" film footage that I'm aware of, needing a Congressional Law.

Had a talk with a young lady "film historian" who taught down at the local uni about some massive reels her little commission had just archived. Included was some Jack Johnson footage that must have been captioned for her to know who it was. Perhaps some missing links to his career if we're lucky, who knows? Put a spark in her eagle eye for any Harry Greb footage and got in that footage of Langford/Johnson would merit a find she could retire on. Also told her to check out that Corbett sparring footage shot by Edison, something she's probably seen, but never before placed in context.

She had that worried look of a perfessor teaching Lamarkian acquired inheritance suddenly being presented with Darwin's Origin of the Species by an unwashed clod by the end. I'd bet she does some research though and alters her classes to at least pay lip service to prize fighting.

Now, to excise a bag of wind, talk about dust ups, those old mountain men would pack down their winter's cache of pelts out of the Rockies every spring for sale and barter. Converging at popular trading crossroads, they'd get liquored up and feted in "spring festivals" and stage King of the Mountain style no holds barred donnybrooks. Lot teeth littered the fields along with noses, ears, fingers, eyeballs and other grubby, sundry parts.

Glad not to have that footage.

6) Who Held The Heavyweight Championship The Shortest Amount of time and how long was it?

I'm pretty sure this was Tony Tucker. He won the vacant IBF belt against Buster Douglas and then lost it to Tyson about two months later.
