On my knowledge of Dunne alone i think this is to big a challenge.
I still dont think hes at world class standard, although i think he has imporved in leaps and bounds since his 1st round KO to Martinez.

too much too soon?

il still be cheerin his corner

I hope he pulls it off . I would love to go to that . I seen that Dunne Pickering fight and the atmosphere looked brilliant . I think he deserves a shot anyway because he's a former European Champion , never know your luck .

Bernard is quite a draw, who wouldn't fight him.

I bet Rendall Munroe feels like strangling Frank Maloney.

Nice as an irishman to see bernard getting a title shot but i don't
think he'll be winning that match, haven't seen cordoba fight yet
but his record is very good and he beat Celestino Caballero in 2004.

Bernard biggest problem is that my grandmother can hit harder than him.

On another note, don't know why bernard is getting a title shot.
Based on the lastest WBA ranking (Nov 2008), he is ranked 11th.

Say its a decent enough pay day for both of them, the o2 is a world calss venue and will take in a far amount at 50 euros a ticket!

Rankings go out the window when there is cash in the air!

Should be nice to see an Irishman fight for a World title it has been years since we had a fighter fighting for one but it is the first of many Duddy , Mc Closkey, Lee and hopefully Sutherland and Martin Lindsey. Plus Jamie Moore and maybe Matthew Macklin

Should be a big fight in Irealnd, but i think Englands Rendall Munroe is more worthy of a World title shot now.

Rendall is current European champion and has made 3 defences of his title and won it off the highly touted unbeaten big punching Kiko Martinez who by the way ko'd Dunne in 1R, and yet after having beat the best the EU has to offer he has now got to face Kiko again in a rematch for the EU belt again, while Dunne hasn't even fought the EU belt, and since being ko'd by Kiko has nothed up 3 half decent wins. But yet is fighting for a world title.

While Rendal has beat the best Eu has to offer, he has to give Kiko a rematch while Dunne who never went near a rematch with Kiko after being ko'd gets a world title shot.

Not right. Frank Maloney really needs to get Rendal a world title shot, he's alot more derserving than Bernard Dunne.

This guy looks like he will give Dunne a very, very close fight. At the moment, I would lean towards the champion. Dunne has NO chance of a knockout or stopping this guy in my opinion, so it's gonna be a distance fight.

Add to the fact the only time Dunne's chin was tested properly he was destroyed in a round. So will the champion's high knockout rate actually stand for something.

You know Cordoba beat the 2 belt Champ Caballero back in the day and for years was considered the better boxer from Panama.

Dunne's in his trouble in this fight.

Cordoba only lost once and he fought Sidorenko the champ to two draws.

I know you like him, but he may be in for a very long night if he doesn't bring his A PLUS PLUS game.

You're right man, didn't he stop Caballero? The only reason I say it might be close, is because Dunne is a decent enough speedy boxer (despite his leaking defense), and videos I've seen of Cordoba he does not seem as fast, so if Dunne played it safe he could get this to the cards. But like you say, Cordoba looks a good quality fighter, plus isn't he a southpaw?

Dunne's team may be just playing the lottery on this one. Going for broke on a big gate and world title challenge. A nice pay-day for him.

He's an excellent boxer. He knocked Caballero down late five plus years ago but won a decision.

The thing about him though, he's very good at times, but he's prone to have off nights at times.

He has good power, but he's not icing Dunne in the first, so Dunne will have many rounds to work and use his speed.

He is a southpaw, has some power, but it's not ungodly or anything.

Good to see an irish guy get a world title shot,
