He was right in that Fedor does not have the most technical boxing ability, but he overlooks that it is adapted to the MMA game. Arlovski was doing quite well on the feet, during the fight I feared that Fedor was about to get hurt with a countershot at any moment since his defense is fairly shoddy when he moves in due to his tendency to open up so aggressively. What Fedor showed primarily was superior discipline, biding his time for Arlovski to make a mistake and then capitalizing upon it.

Basically, Arlovski was winning with strikes. Like a boxer. As soon as threw out the boxing skills and he went in with that flying knee kick, BAM!

I see no ownage here with Roach. I do see Arlovski getting owned by Father Russia.

Realistically, when he did what Freddie taught him, presumeably, he did well. When he went against it is when he got killed for it.

In actuality, it shows how much Roach saved him from getting totally killed from the beginning.

You guys really think he told him, 'Go for the jab, jab. jump in the air like an ass.'

Honestly?

Many of Arlovski's punches seemed to miss.

I'm pretty sure there are some clips of Arlovski landing.

The majority of AA's hand strikes missed due to Fedor's superior head movement. He landed 4 or 5 nice kicks, and then a jab to the body and a teep to the body.

AA wasn't dominating anything. And he got KO'd in 3 minutes.

Aside from the kicks, I can't even recall Arlovski landing any significant or solid shots against Fedor. I think one jab?

That fight looks to me as a boxing fan like Fedor simply didn't have a plan quite yet and the fight finished too soon for him to have anything solid put together. He was putting together some shots, but his timing was getting bumped by well timed Arvloski shots. Fedor would halt the offense (which some have said he looked tagged, which isn't true, he was simply halting while a little off balance) and pull back to try to change the combination of strikes. The fight finished far too soon for Fedor to work Arvloski out. With just about everybody Fedor fights having some kind of physical advantage, it is Fedor who has to make the plan every time for all the vastly different guys he's fought and beaten. All Arvloski was doing was throwing from the outside, by virtue of being far taller than Fedor, so I can't really give him props after a losing effort.

Fedor appears to me from the fights I've seen on youtube, especially the one vs Hong chi man where he was getting wailed upon from above and obviously copping alot of damage, that he isn't really in the fight in an emotional sense. He can observe from a position where he isn't pressured or intimidated into rash decisions (like the choice of flying knee). I think he is the most fearless fighter of all codes I've ever seen. He fights against guys with really massive physical advantages. Everytime he is standing next to another elite mma fighter, he is so small. People want to see Lesnar v Fedor? He will likely win even though he will be no match for the steroid enhanced strength of Lesnar. I think we should be thankful to see this guy in our lifetimes as it's like seeing a past boxing great in action. In years to come people will realise how incredible Fedor was.

Anyway, to get back on topic......I think if I were a gambling man, I'd put money on the guy Roach reckons loses. I would be able to retire a wealthy pundit at this point.

YUHHHHHHH!

Hit the nail on the head.
