I sent away to the Texas courthouse for a copy of my daughter's birth certificate. (we lost the original) so she can get a copy of her SSN (lost that too, they are in the same place in lostland) so she can get her driver's license tomorrow(I want her to get it SO bad). Anyways, sent it off with a check for $11 using their form d/led off the internet and they sent it back. The fee is $12 and they say they have it correct on the internet site, it was just wrong on the form that you download. Even though I have it in writing what the fee was, they won't process it. Hopefully my daughter can still get her license (they have a new rule, you MUST show your SSN Card when getting your license, as of Jan 1) we are going to try something different when we go in. We have her number on other documents and such......I NEED her to get her license. She's a good driver and a responsible girl and I am looking forward to it almost as much as she is....lol.
Anyhow....Texas sucks in my book, ATM anyways. Going there this summer, so I need to be nice when I get there.

It says on the site that you do need the birth certificate but only the SS number. It doesn't actually say you need the card. I think you can normally go to the vital statistics office and get a copy of the birth certificate the same day. However, here, there is a wait for a copy of the SS card..

I'm in CA.
TX is where she was born. I still can't believe we lost it. We are usually very good about putting that stuff away, but I guess I was too busy. I can't blame her, since it goes into the safe and she doesn't know the combo.

Courthouse people are ****in dumb. My marriage certificate has like 5-6 errors on it.

Yeah, that's why I am upset. They couldn't just process it since they made the mistake? It shows on the form that I filled out and mailed them that the fee is $11. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that I got it off the internet since I live in another state. Texans are like that though. Stubborn. Lived there for five years, so I should know. They can be nice though, until you point out that they made a mistake.
It only takes 14 days to get a new ssn card. Once I have the birth certificate, that is. Delayed. :-(

Did you try the "Let me talk to your supervisor" routine?

The other people that upset me at times are the ones filling out the forms at the hospital. I wanted my daughter's middle name to be spelled out NICOLE. She spelled it out with an H in it and I told her no. She told me I was wrong. I told her to spell it the way I wanted it or I would report her. IT was spelled right.
ON my son's, it was supposed to have his first, middle, hawaiin name and last name. They didn't do that either. Kaneala is his hawaiin name. And for the record, it's the same as his first name, I liked the sound of it because a good friend of my hubby's name was the same as our son's and he was from Hawaii.

Yeah, I was told it didn't matter because they posted it right. But she did let it slip that I wasn't the first to complain. DUH! Maybe you guys should fix that? "I wouldn't know, I'm not in charge of the website"
