before yall start trippin check dis
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Seuss

it says he dropped green eggs and ham in the 50s. that before rap started in the bronx in the 70s. so its a legit argument that he sparked rhyming which lead to rap...

not to say hes only rhymer ever, obviously there was poets before suess. but mc suess deserves his props from the hip hop community real talk

LOL...last time I checked Dr Suess knew nothing about rhythm, grooves, or creating SONGS.

I know you do this to get people to respond like crazy, but you do realize 99.9% of the people here think this is comedy right?

i guess i'm a part of that 00.1% then because it makes sense that there is some legitimacy to this. i wouldn't bet my life on it but you can't rule it out as a possibility.
influences, including those in the rap industry, come from anywhere and everywhere.

in that video posted there was even a little "hook"!!! haha.

^ i think its a little bit of reach, but I see what your saying. theres somewhat of an argument that rhymers before rap influenced rap to happen.......

judging by some of his other posts, yes, i agree.

but i think this is somewhat legit.
i don't think that it is possible to pin point one single historical person or event that initially prompted rap. there were a number of influences and who knows, maybe Dr.Seus was one of them!

The kid was talking about Dr Suess being pivotal in creating rap music. LOL in actuality, DJs were the ones who created the rappers (or MCs at the time) and their only job was to hype the DJ up. It wasn't until '79-81 when rappers began making actual songs...and it's a far stretch for a book like Dr Suess to have any influence on a song like The Message (Grandmaster Flash and Furious 5) that dealt with poverty, drugs, and growing up in the streets of NY.

The kid just puts things like this up for jokes...check his other threads lol

Muhammad Ali has a better case than Dr. Seuss.

Ali would write poems and lines about how good he was and how and when he was gonna beat his opponent.

Sound familiar?

it was started by a Jamaican, we were one of the first set to chant over beats, so the Jamaicans that migrated brought that chanting to America and the Americans added their influence and there you have it hip hop is dancehall's son.
