View Full Version : I Wlad beats Williamson, who should he fight next?
GranTorino 09-24-2004, 12:32 PM Although I dont know much about Williamson, and havent seen him fight, I definitely intend to watch the fight. Im curious, though, as to what opponent would be next for Wlad if he is able to put Williamson down? Should he get a title shot? Or should he take another "tune up" fight before then?
mic573 09-24-2004, 12:35 PM Wlad will stop Williamson and he should just keep fighting these types of fights to gain more confidence and learn how to pace himself better before fighting for a title again.
No, I would agree in large part that he should take a few fights and learn how to pace himself but not when there is a champion out there like right now that he could easily beat. Does anyone on this site think that Chris Byrd can beat Wladimir, next to byrds loss to Ibeabuchi it was the worst beating he has ever taken. Everyone always say styles make fights and I dont care how bad Wlads chin is he will beat byrd every time they fight. If I was wlad I would be calling chris out, after all byrd still claims that fishy things went on during their first encounter ala ali v. liston. I'm curious as to anyones opinion on this, does anyone think that Byrd could beat Wlad?
Neuraxis 09-24-2004, 12:56 PM What do you mean these types of fighters. TOS is clearly better than Brewster. So if Wlad is ruined TOS should win this one. If Wlad isn't ruined he should beat TOS. After that it looks like him and Lance Whitaker are ranked 1 and 2 by the WBO, so he should probably fight himtherefore setting up a rematch with Brewster. If not I'd go for someone like Guinn.
neils7147933 09-24-2004, 01:32 PM Wladimir will KO Williamson. It only took Mesi 90 seconds, why would Wlad have trouble?
Still, people have memories of Wlad getting KO'd by Brewster and Sanders. A Top 5 or 10 heavyweight still might be hard to sign.
He's already KO'd Monte Barrett, Jameel McCline and Chris Byrd. Both of their stocks have risen. He needs to go after someone who is also trying to rebound.
Dominick Guinn would be a great opponent. Or Lance Whitaker. Or the Rahman/Meehan LOSER. Then maybe Audley Harrison after that. Then he gets a title shot - for one of the half dozen belts going around.
NiGe2011 09-24-2004, 02:25 PM I think a Rahman/Klitschko fight would be fun, Mesi would be a good matchup for Wladimir if he is ever cleared to fight again also... Right now Wlad just need to be focusing on Williamson- while Williamson cannot take much a punch he can put a little starch behind his swings (remind you of anyone?)
neils7147933 09-24-2004, 05:58 PM If Wlad loses to Williamson, he'll be lucky to ever be in another HBO, Showtime or PPV event that his brother doesn't headline.
The Fix 09-24-2004, 09:15 PM TOS is going to KO wlad and that will be the last of wlad. wlad will never have another belt unless its of wbu quality. he just doesnt have the chin or stamina to win.
Neuraxis 09-25-2004, 12:03 AM If Wlad loses to TOS it will only show that he is a ruined fighter and should probably retire.

mr. bojangles 09-25-2004, 12:27 AM James Toney. Let's see who's the pretender!
NiGe2011 09-25-2004, 06:04 PM Toney might just be the perfect opponent for Wlad- he is getting mad props from the boxing community right now but displayed in his last fight that he might not have the heaviest of hands. What that means is that Wlad, who will have a huge reach advantage and is at least offensively a speciman, might just be able to stand outside and hammer away on Toney until he falls... Crazy part is that I think Toney is the better fighter and that this win would be very deceptive- it would just be the case of Toney being an excellent matchup for what skills Wladimir brings to the table.
PacKillsMorales 09-25-2004, 07:29 PM jesus i wouldnt put wlad in with mesi...the only thing mesi9 does well is punch hard...and although wlad can keep him at bay hes gonna ship shots...
