I always enjoyed the story of the time he made a bet with a young Muhammad Ali that he could stick a knife into his leg and not feel it. Ali was unaware that Reg had a false leg, the result of landing on an anti-tank mine during the war, and nearly nearly fainted when he did it.

He was my all-time fav. commentator. Such a great sense of humor. Such a great voice always spoken in perfect english. Him and Jim Watt made a great pair.

RIP Reg.

Very sad to hear this. I've always very much enjoyed his commentaries, as said, especially in partnership with Jim Watt they were a great team. You could tell he had a great passion for the sport.

I forgot about that story, what a guy he was.

Rest In Peace Reg.
