FILA USA World Team Trials Qualifier
Sanctioned by the USA Federation of Pankration Athlima
Open to Amateur competitors of all ages from all locations, schools and associations.
This is an Open One Skill Level event.

Space is limited to 16 man brackets. Once a Weight Class is full it will be closed. Most weights will fill, please pre-register to ensure your place in the tournament.
We will allow walk in registrations (for Age/ Weight divisions that are still open) on Saturday Aril 4th during weigh in at Santa Ana College. Once a specific division is full, no other competitors will be admitted.
There will be NO registrations during Sunday's weigh in.
WEIGH IN:
All athletes must weight in at Santa Ana College either: April 4th 6-8 PM or April 5th 7 - 8:30 AM. Weigh in will close at 8:30 AM on Sunday. Athletes who arrive after 8:30 AM will be removed from the tournament.
All Athletes will receive a .4 (4oz) weight allowance for undergarments.
Failure to make weight may result in removal of the tournament or being placed into the next higher weight class if space is still available. If space is not available a full refund minus a $10 processing fee will be issued to the competitor. Please be on weight!!!
A Health and Safety check for contagious skin conditions will be held during weigh in.

10 AM: National Anthem
10 AM: Girls 13 & 14 yrs ( Cadet Girls)
10 AM: Women 15 yrs and up (Adult Women)
11 AM: Kids 8 yrs & under (Rookie)
12 PM: Kids 9 & 10 yrs (Novice)
1 PM: Kids: 11 & 12 yrs (Pre-Teen)
2 PM: Boys 13 & 14 yrs (Cadet Boys)
3 PM: Boys 15 to 17 yrs (Junior)
4 PM: Men 18 yrs and up (Adult Men)
8 PM: Men’s Finals matches
AWARDS: Title of 2008 California State Pankration Champion
Top 3 finalists in each adult weight class will earn a spot to the US World Team Trials in June 2009. All proceeds from the World Team Trials will be used to help pay for Team USA’s Travel to Lithonia for the Sept. 2009 World Wrestling Games.
Individual Awards
-One of a Kind Customized State Championships Medals will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. (Divisions with a 16 man bracket will have two 3rd place medalists)
**Team Awards: Top 2 Teams will receive Special Team Awards in the following divisions: Men’s division – Junior’s division – Cadets/ Pre-Teen division – Rookie/ Novice division
Team point earning system:
Men & Junior - Accumulative tournament point system. All athletes will earn team points for each winning match. Additional team points for Submission/ Stoppages, Tech Submissions and major decisions. Byes carry over to next match points x 2.
Women, Cadet, Pre-Teen, Rookie & Novice: 1st place=6 team pts, 2nd place=3 team pts, 3rd place=2 team pts.

Non licensed fighters with less then 2 Pro/ Semi pro wins are considered amateur.
Divisions: Please contact us if you exceed the maximum weight limit of your division. We may be able to open a Super Heavy division if at least 2 entries.

REFUNDS:
A Full Refund minus a $5 admin fee is available if cancellation is made before March 30, 2009. A $10 admin fee will be accessed to cancellations after March 30th . Athletes who fail to make weight with no option to move to a higher weigh class will receive a full refund minus a $10 admin fee.
No refunds for “no shows” without notification.
FILMING: This event is open for all filming. Cameras must stay off the mats and not block spectators view.

COACHES:
Schools will receive one free coaches admission for every five registered competitors. All other must pay $8 spectator entry fee. Coaches must provide a roster.
A Coaches meeting will be conducted 9:30 AM -Sunday, April 5th
Competitors may have a maximum of two coaches mat side. Coaches must stay in the designated area on the mat. Any violations may result in penalties against their fighter or removal from the tournament.
All disrespectful conduct to include that of coaches will result in immediate disqualification from the tournament. Disrespectful conduct includes arguing with referees and officials and intentionally trying to injure your opponent.
All victorious competitors are required to sign their bout sheet after each match acknowledging the results are correct.
All athletes are responsible to report when their division is called. Failure to report on time will result in disqualification.
Coaches must check the brackets to ensure their athlete is placed in the proper age/ weight division.
RULES: Coaches and athletes are responsible in knowing and understanding the rules.

Rule Changes for 2009: Rules updates will be posted soon….


- Immobilization count will continue as long as one maintains an attempted submission, mount, side control or back control. You can now transition to all the dominant positions and keep the immobilization count going. The immobilization count will end once opponent executes a reversal, achieves any phase of the guard or stands up.
- No more points for reversals. Points are earned for control via Immobilization after the reversal.
- No more 1st warnings for fouls. 1 point will now be deducted upon the 1st foul.
- Push out rule will be used in regulation time. While standing, if one foot steps out of bounds or is forced out of bounds 1 point will be earned for opponent. Points will not be earned if a knee is touching the ground during push out. Takedowns or throws that land out of bounds will score as long as motion was started before going out of bounds.
- Coaches may object to calls during a bout by standing next to the scoring table. The referee will stop the match at an appropriate time to address the objection. No objections will be heard once the athlete exits the mat area.


DURATION OF MATCHES: All divisions are double elimination
Rookies, Novice, Pre-Teen and Cadets matches are one 3 Minute Period.
Women and Junior matches are one 4 minute period.
Men’s division matches are one 5 minute period.
Mandatory Equipment:
All Athletes must compete with MMA Style Gloves, a mouthpiece and Cup. MMA Style gloves will be provided to athletes without their own.
Other protective gear is optional: Elbow pads, Knee pads, Shin/ Shin & Instep guards, Wrestling Head Gear, Wrestling/ Martial Arts Shoes.
MMA Fight Shorts with Rash guard is the recommended uniform.
Athletes may also compete in Traditional Martial Arts attire, shorts or sweats without open pockets or metal, tight fitting T-Shirt or Wrestling singlet.
