so i've recently been getting into MMA and this kid, by happen chance, has been on the tube a lot. i've seen most of his fights and this kid is just through and through nice.
his jab is better than most in boxing, long, powerful left jab that totally disorients his opponents (manny the mangler anyone, WHAT?) and jiu jitsu is just SICK. now, i'll be the first to admit that i don't know much about MMA but this kid looks like a TRUE champ.

Miguel Torres lives pretty close to where I'm at so I've been following him for awhile. He's definitely an amazing fighter and it's nice to see him finally getiting some credit in the fight world.

Savino 01-22-2009, 03:32 PM I have been getting into MMA alot more for about 2 years and started watching WEC and seen alot of him and he is my favorite fighter out there. His last fight Frank Mir was saying how he is the best P4P fighter in the world right now.

Torres is to Bantamweight what Fedor is too heavyweight. Only lost once and avenged that defeat in devastating fashion so he is one of 3 guys I can think of off the top of my head who has virtually defeated everyone he has faced, the others being GSP and Fedor respectively. I remember sherdog comparing him to Carlos Zarate since their approach to fighting is very similar. Plus the during his early days fighting on the unsanctioned circuit he was mostly facing guys who were middleweights up to even heavyweights and from what I have read was whooping them one after the other which shows how what kind of guts and resilience he has.
With a record of 35-1 (though it's been said its more like 47-1) with 30 stoppages the guy is a beast and P4P top 3 IMO.
StillUnknown 01-22-2009, 10:08 PM Torres is one of the more well rounded fighters you'll see. always exciting, whether its standing or on the ground. a must see fighter.

sunthunder 01-23-2009, 03:22 PM The term "Legend" is thrown around too often in MMA given it's such a young sport, but Torres is on his way to becoming one. I think that in the future, a lot of fighters who are very highly regarded now won't even be remembered by a lot of people, but Torres could be one of them who truely is looked back on as a legend. As the next generation of fighters comes through, with a greater degree of athletic talent entering the sport, a lot of guys like Wanderlei, Couture etc will probably be forgotten, inspite of how good they were because fighters in the future will probably go undefeated longer. Torres could be different, 35-1 says it all really. His fight with Maeda was one of the best of last year.

Yeah, Torres is a bad ass! I love watching him fight. In fact, that's how I came up with my username "mexican mullet" :lol1:
