Liddell to Return at UFC 97 Against Shogun

Dave Meltzer is reporting that Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, who defeated Mark Coleman today at UFC 93, will take on former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell on April 18 in Montreal. The bout is expected to be the co-main event alongside Anderson Silva defending his UFC Middleweight Championship against Thales Leites. Liddell is coming off of a knockout loss to current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans at UFC 88. Shogun's performance today has already been widely criticized as he once again tired quickly before finishing Coleman in the third round by TKO. Will the 2005 Pride Middleweight Grand Prix winner return to his old #1 Light Heavyweight in the world form against "The Iceman?" Tune in to UFC 97 to find out and come back to 411mania.com to see which other bouts are announced!

The Shogun from 2005 would dominate, but he is no longer the same fighter. Still, I'd pick him to edge out a decision.

Well he hasnt fought in a long time and just came back from serious surgerys, Coleman is a strong big guy and when he took Shogun down he got him tired easily, It's good to see Shogun going 3 rounds and getting some of that rust off. It's also nice to see him already getting a fight and wanting to get back in there asap.

Shogun by Ud or Late tko/ko
