So my 9-year old son likes hip-hop music but his mom doesn't want his mp3 player rife with obscenities...

I've downloaded him some kj-52 (seriously under the radar Christian MC), some Chamillionaire, some Run-DMC

Anyone have other suggestions, other than individual singles, or links that could help me?

Will Smith...

Why don't you get songs and just type the song in the search and the word clean. I put a lot of recent songs on my 7 year old cousins MP3 and they're clean.

Everyday Process, Braille, Rare jewelz, ohmega watts, Othello....I believe all these rappers are Christian rappers. You can always go old school to, cop some rakim, biz markie, etc.

Current singles...alternate lyrics or just censored?

Early Tribe? A few explicit drops but overall pretty clean on some tracks.

Yeah, good chance to introduce him to the old school, and to show him that "exciting" and even "hard" dosen't have to be dirty.

You can download some of Eric B & Rakim's less laid back tracks like Lyrics of Fury and Microphone Fiend

and some later Moe Dee

On a softer note Chubb Rock, Kid N Play, Heavy D and similar artists.

As for the new school, alot of Jurasic 5's stuff is pretty clean.

Try KRS-one, he's an old school Hip Hop MC with master class flow. His recent work has a very good message for youngsters.

People Under The Stairs.

They rarely curse, they don't rap about pushing weight and busting guns, they don't talk about ****in broads, pretty mild lyrics. They do talk about getting drunk and smoking blunts though.....so if you're cool with that then it should be a perfect fit.

All from different albums, all classics. I recommend picking up O.S.T., The Next Step, Stepfather, Fun DMC and Question in the Form of an Answer immediately....in that order.
